Hello guys, it is me. Little Scanner, Dingus, Dingloid and Dingtard. Or Alex.

I have been wondering an assortment of things. Should I go to university? What should I do with my future?

I need someone to discuss this with, and I need multiple opinions. You are all very nice and wholesome, which makes me want to hear you out.

I am currently wanting to move to Florida. I already have someone waiting for me with a house. Im taking a tourism course, it is 3 years long. Im currently in my second year.

I dont have any experience living alone, I have very little experience working too.

Do you think I need to go to university and further educate myself and have a higher certificate, or should I move away to Florida once Im done? I can get in many work places when I finish the course, but I may get better. I dont know if it is worth it, though.

What about you? Tell us about yourself too!

Thanks, Alex.

Do you have to go to University?
No.

Do you have to go to University if the field you want to go into is academically oriented and nepotism will not help as much?
Yes.

Should you go to University if you KNOW are not prepared for some difficulties whether being fiscal, emotionally, and socially?
No.

Should you make at least an attempt?
Yes.

Overall, and this is very subjective is that if you are already done, then what you need to do is push yourself to complete what you have on your plate.

After, you need to look at your financial and social situation and what barriers/demands the market that your field has.

Generally, though, higher education is never inherently a bad thing - that is to say, no one will say that knowing more will hurt. Is it worth it in terms of the opportunities it will open up? That really depends and something you need to look into.

Part of higher education is literally you going and looking into what you need to do in order to be successful in your field. Use your resources to assist you whether that be current instructors, people already in the field, organizations, books, online resources.

I suppose it all hinges on your goals. What do you want to do with your life in the short, medium, and long terms?

Figure out what you value in getting an education, is it because you love the field, have a genuine interest and want to spend a good part of your life dedicating yourself to it, or is it because it leads to work and employment that you want to spend a good part of your life dedicated to? Having that kind of goal in mind is important, even if it's not too palpable or clear. Having at least some idea of what you want to do is necessary before you make any choice. Do people generally go through higher education to reach that or similar goals? Are there alternate paths?

Spend a lot of time figuring out how things are, what you need and what you want. Research a lot, gather a good picture and get well-informed.

All I want is to move to Florida and settle down. I want to go there, work and better myself and my partner until we are both able to go ahead and purchase ourselves a house instead of paying a rent which in itself I find it dumb to pay in the long run, given you will never have ownership over it.

I honestly think that going to university isn't going to change much, and its all because with my tourism course done, I have a higher certificate than regular school being done. I want to follow up tourism, since I can see myself in it somewhere. A call center or else could also be good for me. I dont have a dream career in mind because I've never worked before and Im generally very blind when it comes to "What do you want to do with your education, what about your dream job?"

I've been going along with the wave and let myself be carried to tourism. It is something that I minimally enjoy. It seems fun, and I always found it funny dealing with tourists, since I sometimes help my parents at their restaurant and we get a few.

Personally, University isn’t just about getting a degree, it’s about general knowledge and how you go forward in life.

I went to do Business Management for three years, I use maybe half of it now but only because I went into a field that used it. I learned far more about taking care of myself and maturing readying myself to excel at work.

I also never would be where I am today at a global company rising up ranks if I didn’t start with that degree.

I would personally recommend Uni, but many swear by going straight into work or apprenticeships

I really think it wont do any greater but further go in depth with what I already know. I simply dont know if I need it for job opportunities or not.
