Making rebels a paramilitary force running around with combat shotguns, reinforced armour and assault rifles fucked the server because you couldn't do anything with that force on the main server.

I have no issue with that, the issue I have is when pacifism becomes an excuse to squash rebellion itself, which is what happened during clockwork most of the time, something I myself have been on the receiving end of.

You’ve never ever, were able to convince me why this was an issue.

Independent crafters would solve these issues, or hell it could fuck it if all crafters went to the biggest group in the sewers.

What’re rebels now? They’re all in soldier gear with mp7s. No one gives a shit, you think instigating conflict with the Union is proper RP, instead of rebel societies forming and just trying to do their own thing?

Independent crafters are coming back, for one thing. So thats something, I guess?

And no, I don't. I think having the option be there for a HL2-themed server to include rebels who 'rebel' is important. Clockwork didn't have that. Clockwork had a 'resistance' who'd literally murder you for daring to suggest fighting should be done instead of everyone just rolling over and taking it.

And yes, people got annoyed over sweeps when there was nowhere to flee. You can’t blame people for being anti rebellion when they don’t wanna die and lose their characters, and ICly don’t wanna die for a front that’s made no progress other than the Union has pulled back a majority of its invading force.

I don't see why you can't have both like, paramilitary men isn't necessarily a bad thing, what is bad is when you literally off other groups for no apparent reason than just "lol they caused a sweep".

Personally, I have plans to turn the canals into a society of it's own, whether or not it's viable depends on how ferrying and so on is handled.

I have never had issues with refugees or rebel societies; I helped run one over at TnB which was used as a focal point for the aggressive groups to work out of and hit the Union while keeping the refugees protected. But LP and CW didn't work like that.

And that’s what the majority of humanity has been doing for the past 14 years. There’s no spirit in fighting a war that’ll entail so many casualties, I’m not a rice farmer.

God I’m wasting my break typing this shit

If you don't fight, the Union wins, humanity is absorbed and the earth is turned into a factory eventually. Whether or not the goal is feasible 'alone' IC is one thing, but to say "nobody would fight" is just as stupid as "everyone would fight". Of course they wouldn't - thats literally what Citizens and Collaborators (of all stripes) are. And refugees, too.

Anyway I won't waste your break my man lmao

there should have been a replacement, not a straight removal

and also i like the idea of "rebels who are only here to survive and live like regular people" but with le suppression field and the fact that civil protection sally out to murder everyone at the smallest provcation, it isnt possible

if the outlands section of the map was say, 150km away in the russian steppe, yeah, maybe, that'd work, but the server isnt like that, so it doesnt make sense

I just imagined people were more so complacent considering how far the occupation is, and I’d assume the open brutality of the Union would be toned down without direct overview from slugs, but nah.

i would give x amount of money to roleplay a home steader in the fertile valleys of the rockies, growing crop and raising a family while dealing with the ins and outs of the new world, antlion management and old world tech trading

you would imagine people would be A: more complacent because they have systematically accepted global genocide or B: posadist mode and committing to total war to bring down the suppression field before humanity is erased forever
Rabid

Complacency is fine if you build a small-scale experience around it. It isn't ideal for long-term, nor enjoyment on a general scale for most folks.

I say 'most' because I'd rather not cut out either option for people. I enjoy both sorts of character.

More so seeing as Lambda, one of the furthest driven and plotted Resistance fronts in Europe got tossed aside.
