Arcane is the LoL anime, basically. Follows Jinx, Vi and Jayce for the most part, featuring other characters from Piltover & Zaun.

Seeing as the first three episodes came out I figured it'd be a good idea to make a thread to talk about the show, if anyone else has watched it.

My review below, warning - spoilers for the first three episodes.

Spoiler: SPOILERS FOR EP 1-3

So first off, I hate the intro music. The cinematic is cool but fuck me does the music feel out of place and disjointed.

As for the characters, I immediately assumed the dad character was gonna die, right up until the end of episode 3 when he injected himself and I 100% thought he was gonna be Mundo. Continuing, it's kinda pog that Ekko and Viktor have also appeared in the show, seeing Viktor's backstory is also pretty nice.

The fight/action scenes looked fucking awesome and were really well animated, especially the explosions. I'm typically not a big fan of this art style (I hated Borderlands and wasn't a SUPER big fan of it in TT TWD, but it worked really well I think.

Also, the Enforcers, anyone else get HL2 Civipro vibes from them? The fuckin masks and the batons make me chuckle.

A bunch of my friends think that Dad isn't actually dead and is instead gonna become Warwick as there was a bit where they called him the "wolf of the underground" and "enforcer's lapdog" but I'm still sticking with Mundo honestly, if he lives at all. They also think that the dude with the infected/red eye is gonna be Singed, but I don't honestly think so.

What'd you guys think?

i think it's actually really really really good. with how riot is with their art and animation, i knew the visuals would be top tier, i was worried about the story-telling, but these first 3 episodes have really put those concerns to bed for me.

as for the dad (Vander), i'm definitely thinking he is our pre-Warwick human. Warwick's lore that we know so far, it contains this piece:
“Though many think of Warwick as no more than a beast, buried beneath the fury lies the mind of a man—a gangster who put down his blade and took up a new name to live a better life. But no matter how hard he tried to move on, he could never escape the sins of his past.”

that sounds an awful lot like the Vander we've seen so far, couple that with the VERY Warwick-like appearance & sounds Vander was making after drinking the serum, i feel like the theory has huge potential. especially given that the episode ended with Silco right there next to the assumed dead Vander, could this be where he takes Vander's body to experiment on? and THOSE are the experiments that ended up creating the monster that is Warwick?

as for Singed, he's actually been confirmed for the most part to be the scientist that was working in Silco's lab (the one that got blown up at the end of episode 3), the subtitles drop his name in episode 2.

and, yes, i also got CP vibes from the enforcers, i think it's just hard ingrained that cop with mask = CP

the whole Warwick theory is definitely something that should become clearer over the next couple acts. i doubt it'll be anywhere near the main storyline but i'm sure it'll be hinted at if Vander is indeed either Warwick or Mundo.

only thing i dont like about it is how blatantly obvious it was that the no-name characters that aren't in the game were going to be the only ones to die. unironically would've been a better watch if i knew nothing about the video game

also really expected it to pander to the chinese market and have no blood or sexual themes or anything since all of the Riot company works for mao zedong but i was pleasantly surprised there

Interesting that they said it's Arcane's final season and that they're doing more, but I'm kinda hyped that they casually dropped that they'll be doing movies too so we could genuinely see a movie series set in Runeterra (please for the love of god redo the ruination after a few shows showing the areas of the world)

So while we wait, how do we think season 2 will end based on that trailer and where do we think they'll go next?

I honestly could see them have a show with Lux and Garen surrounding the events of Mageseeker/Sylas's escape and the death of Jarvan III. Like Lux's whole struggle with her magic in a magically repressive society, trusting in Sylas and the resulting jailbreak, plus it could lead into the Freljord which could be fun for future shows. That or it'd be great to see Bilgewater and the whole GP vs MF

I just hope it's not gonna be Ionia.

I think this is just the final season of "Arcane" and the story they've focused on but there'll be other shows in Runeterra.

As for this I think this trailer is exclusively act 1 and is all smoke and mirrors mostly.

Mel, Jayce, & Viktor definitely survive the explosion. I think Jayce will instinctively dive to try and protect Mel and her golden tattoos at the end of season 1 will save them both. Viktor will get greatly injured and he'll use the hexcore to further his evolution.

Vander being Warwick might likely be an act 2+ thing considering we saw Singe still working on Vander at the end of season 1 and this likely won't start much longer after. So a time jump between act 1 & 2 again.

Vi saying "My sisters gone" I'd likely also her lying since she really doesn't seem the type to ever admit such. Not in the way she did. She likely is saying that so Cait or whoever will bring her along on the hunt for Jinx.

Vi calling her Jinx and the whole "you finally got the name right" thing is probably after she is calling for powder a few times when searching for her.

People of Zaun seem to be rallying behind Jinx as some kind of revolutionary figure.

For act 2 & 3 we honestly have no idea what'll happen. I think Viktor and Singe might end up being the ultimate "villains" of the season. With Singe unleashing Warwick and Viktor being manipulated by Singe. Like for the end goal of reassureting his daughter or rebuilding her. Creating Orianna.

it'd be cool if they explored targon (aurelion sol), freljord cause ornn is a cool ass character or bilgewater. could even explore the shadow isles if u wanted to tell a mystic story. there's rlly a lot of room for stories
