Steam name: Furret No Furry Asimo

Previous experience with Vortigaunt factions:
Years ago at this point. More inclined towards 'no', as almost all experience I can remember is second hand.
Have you read the Vortigaunt Guide?:
A couple of times by now

Character Name:
"Pop-up" or "Popper"
What kind of character do you plan on portraying? How do their traits distinguish them from the rest of their species?:

What sets this creature apart from the rest of their kin is a change in mentality, or something more akin to a dream of grandeur. They have, in-person and through the vortessence, witnessed the demise of their own and other's civilizations at the hands of those directed by the shu'ulathoi. Sprouting within their own mind the concept that the old tribal structures had previously resulted in a Vortigaunt society unequipped to deal with the horrors that seemingly existed.
If even the human civilization was unequipped to weather such a storm, simply having a larger and more sophisticated organization of individuals wouldn't suffice for the goal of continued survival.
As backwards as it sounds, the ways in which the Shu'Ulathoi operated must at this moment be seen as the apex civilization, for even despite it's large expansion it had never encountered a foe that was able to best it as a whole.
To this end, this vortigaunt holds a firm belief that simply purging the Combine from Earth is not an end, but simply a first step. A first step towards something bigger, something to grow and expand along the ways that the enemy operates. With the ideal that when the Shu'Ulathoi have been cast down, security and safety for the Vortigaunt can be achieved. An ideal with a high cost, but certainly a price worth paying.

With this, the Vortigaunt feels a rift between their vortessence bound collective consciousness, and their own desires. This manifests in their usage of the "we" form when conversing in subjects of a more typical Vortigaunt status. Whereas they will refer to themselves in the "I" form when the subject is their own actions with aim towards their own goal and future, as this is felt as more of a personal accomplishment rather than one that came forth from the collective Vortigaunt mindset.

Brief Backstory:

This being was summoned during a time where a remnant of the vortigaunt species toiled under servitude to the Nihilanth. Forced to excruciating levels of hard labor in a position of a lesser species. Maintained in a perpetual state of agony and sorrow to what had come of their once troubled but tranquil existence. Centuries passed, all fused together as a blur within the mind of this individual, eventually culminating when Humanity's reckless experimentation tore a hole which established a substantial connection between Xen and Earth. Not being part of the initial waves send as invasion forces, but rather part of transits later down the line, they were spared from the heavy fighting in and around the Black Mesa facility. With the fall of the Nihilanth, freedom was tasted for the first time in their existence. Though, now mostly stranded on an alien world and alone, visions through the vortessence revealed that Humanity was not a species to underestimate. This resulted in them mostly keeping to isolated rural areas, opting to avoid Human settlements as far as possible. With the aftershocks of the Black Mesa Incidents quickly ravaging the planet and bringing Humanity to a lowpoint in their existence, this one made do with hunting the increasingly Xenian biology taking over Earth's natural biosphere.
At times there was limited contact with humans, further down the line once initial tension and the shock of what had occurred had had time to simmer down. This mostly came down to minimalistic trade, and aiding Humans in turning certain Xenian species into more edible forms. Though this one's more reclusive behavior is what earned it its identification among Humans, as their tendency to occasionally pop-up turned from "The Vortigaunt that occasionally pops up" to "pop-up Vort".
With the arrival of the Shu'ulathoi's legions on Earth, Popper fell into a state comparable to depression. With visions of the initial invasion of the homeworld filling their mind, they felt a profound sense of loss and despair at the situation. Life under the Nihilanth had been terrible, but not an existential dread. And if servitude to the lesser master was a less dramatic event, then life under the greater master would've been another level of misery. This resulted in Popper withdrawing themselves deep into seclusion, resulting in their escape from the destruction of the Seven Hour War and the subsequent reorganization of Earth. In this secluded state is where the majority of their ideals were formed. Their attempts to drown out the negativity and pain brought through the shared consciousness of the vortessence eventually resulting in a more personal identity being formed within their mind, resulting in a more complete feeling of self.
Nothing lasts forever, and eternal solitude would not change the fate of the Vortigaunt. Eventual contact with Humans living outside of Combine control and with the Combine themselves would result in Popper going through various stages of resistance and captivity, eventually bringing them to the present.

What kind of group(s) are you planning to work with (if any)?:
Popper is more inclined towards living in solitude, though has come to see the benefit and necessity of working with others if they wish to break the Shu'Ulathoi's hold over Earth. Preference going out to their own Kin, but Humanity holding their own benefits if they are required.

Do you intend to request a power specific to your character? If so, specify:
No, nothing special.
