Serious Buying a server host, can I get some advice?

I'm starting up my own server, and no, it isn't a nebulous rip-off. Instead, think of it like a fast-paced s2k server, with super-suits and somewhat OP weapons.

RP is going to be encouraged. Could I get some advice for starting this? I've seen alot of smaller servers fall for simply following the same play-style of others.

Yeah honestly this is good advice as edgy as it can seem, it was silly to start a GMod server in 2019 and even more so in 2021. Put your time into something newer or just enjoy the current offerings while it's still there.

Just starting out. I did find some good plugins and have figured out how to add items into the server.
So far, I also made a item that when eaten turns you into a chad, and prints “Mama”

ngl homie it's not gonna work out if you don't have any serious development skills or like 50 friends who will play the day you bring up the server

the true comedy here is how you spent your money on something without foundations already set, makes me look at my bulletproof vest and not feel sad anymore
just turn it into a massive EYE server for a month or pick a random game and turn it into that for a month
if you want street cred on nebulous just make something everyone can join for a short time, interest will fizzle long before you think about renewing it
EYE, a gmod gamemode, SourceForts, Team Fortress Classic, Sven Co-op, The Specialists, some older half-life mods like the vampire one, the list goes on
you have it, best do something with it.
or source it out for an rp server for a short-form event idk

there's always Minecraft, Ace of Spades season is coming up too

If you're going to start a server to fart around on with you and your friends and do private stuff on I'd say go for it. If you're trying to do a public thing I would say stay away since you'll just disappoint yourself.

For new fellas such as yourself I'd get a NFO server (Nuclear Fallout) I've used them plenty in the past and they are pretty easy to use. Get the rest of your files from GetHub and start experimenting. Plenty of discord and people about to help you if you get stuck.

I'd suggest not starting a Garry's Mod server now a-day's. Though if you really want to, the best cheap hosting sites I'd suggest are Crident and GMC Hosting

I'd say before even hosting the server, get a developer or two (or work on it yourself), create unique ideas and systems that people will enjoy and such.

a friend ran a scrims server for the perp/rust style gameplay and it held up for a few weeks, mainly cause no one had anything to do and actual fights were rare
it was fun but it didn't last

gmod is not dead but it is, if you know what i mean
if u can develop it yeah but if you cant dont (already saw u bought it)

although im not trying to give him everything for coding, i still want to learn lua.
