My mother said my dreams were too big, too big for the small town I live in... I guess she was right. Ain't anythin' I done had been good. No good at school, no good 'round the house an' the land. I was just some washed up kid who failed school an' disappointed her parents, yeah I was reject child outta us three. I didn't bother with my older bro an' sis, picked on me for bein' dumb an' useless.

My dad took pity on me an' gave me some advice to unfuck myself, sayin' he was in the army, helped fixed him right up he said -- Well shit, may as well look into it but I had doubts, didn't think they would take on women an' they did, even my mom said that I wouldn't be allowed to join cause I "lacked a dick, kept cryin' an' bleedin' all over the place". I went to the office in Las Vegas and asked if I could join an' looked at my options - There, I could join decidin' with National Guard 'cause I only wanted somethin' part time so I could spend time with my family.

I went onto go through ASVABs, tests and the sorts - See if I'm fit as a fiddle, it went through perfectly and decided to fully commit with the local cavalry regiment. My mother wasn't too happy, got an earful from the old woman so I went down to the Pioneer Saloon an' had a few root beers, that's where on many occasion I met Gordy - He's a local character; Old and knowledgeable, gave me some good advice an' good spirits. He's a good man.

The day came for me to go through trainin', readyin' to pack up, say my goodbyes an' leave... Before I left me and my mother had a fight, she was angry I was goin' through with this - We threw punches and pulled hair but what hurt us both was when I said "Fuck you, you're no mother of mine.". That was the last thing I've ever said to her, never to take those words back because during my trainin', the alien creatures invaded. I had to fight in the middle of basic and try to save all the lives I could, a death to me was a stab at my heart - It hurt. Innocent men, women and children slaughtered or turned by these creatures.

Months had gone by - A Second invasion happened, it only lasted seven Goddamn hours... Seven hours. We failed... I failed... What hurt worse than the fightin', the loss of friends and the lives of the innocence was the hauntin' of my words -- Goodsprings was gone, lugging around my gear and rifle, I trifled through the ashes and fauna. The house was nothing but a pile of burned and ashy wood -- I couldn't find the bodies but I know I'll never find my mom and dad again... I can't take back the words I said.

To finally rest, I should let go of the past and try to begin again... Save what can be saved.

After a night of drinkin', injury, tears an' laughter did I find my picture of Crusher, my little boy - It came floodin' back to me... The memories of pickin' him up as a pup, trainin' him, playin' with him an' livin' -- But also, sadly buryin' him durin' the alien invasion, he killed a couple of them before he died. Against the orders of my superiors, I stayed behind in Goodsprings and buried him next to the burned house. I should'a stayed longer to see if my parents bodies were there.

Goodbye, Crusher, I'll see you over the rainbow bridge soon, buddy.
Crusher, 1991-2001.

Cpl. John Smith

@Oswald
One of the first soldiers I met after signin' up, a real full bone an' skin devil dog - Fuckin' a, we hit the jackpot here an' he ain't an asshole. He's a good man with good tastes, loves killin' bugs and starship troopers - He's an efficient bug killer, got some balls charging a humvee crusher with a baton. I would love t'know more about him. Go get some, Marine!

Another soldier I met on my first day, always a buys body -- Sayin' that, I can't say much. She is a hard workin' woman, the Corporal chevrons didn't come out of nowhere, she definitely earned them - She wasn't a prior service woman, she got this innocence to her. She kinda sweet, got this sweet girl next door vibe to her -- Would love to see her again soon.

What the fuck did they do to you? Honestly? Lost one guy an' nearly lost you. I feel pity for the woman after seein' her shredded to fuck, givin' me flash backs of Las vegas, remindin' me of a girl I knew. I'll take care of ya an' maybe strangle some sense into the people who caused this. Even when injured and lost some blood, you're still sweet as ever.

The Captain... He was the one that interviewed me and made me unlearn a few things with the COC, doesn't like bein' called Sir or Captain - Not sure why. He has been through a lot in his life; The tours he did, the wars he fought... He's a bit like a Vietnam vet. First time speakin' to and knowin' a Russian person, he's good in my books - Kinda self conscious with my trainin' kickin' in and seein' like a blue falcon or a shit sniffer. Honestly, he's good and surprises me everyday, especially survivin' a HUMVEE crusher... I'm still questionin' about that everyday.

Lt. Kayumi Nishimura
@Simman102
The LT is pretty good, she ain't ex-services or anythin' but she can lead good. I ain't too sure what she's done before all of this or it's jus' on the down low. She's a rather interestin' woman, I gotta give her that an' I like her but we don't get that down time together. The beef between her and Tomoki is kinda funny, sayin' stuff in Japanese an' such. She's an officer an' younger than me, but that's the way the cookie crumbles, must havin' a good education or somethin' - Most likely deserved though.

MPvt. Minna Mueller
@Willy del Silly
Minna's a fellow warrior, previously servin' durin' the nineties at Operation Desert Storm... I got some mad respect for her, 'specially for her bein' the only medic on the team; Gotta get good with the medics. She also a bit of a geek, likin' Lord of the Rings an' star wars - It ain't much my cup of coffee but she sure can throw a drinkin' party. I like her very much as a colleague, friend an' a sister in arms -- Nearly broke me seein' her mangled up by that creature.

Tomoki
@Evie
Ah, Tomoki: LT's arch-nemesis. At the start I thought "Who the fuck is child?", "Why is a child drinkin' alcohol?" and "What an asshole." But that was the drink and stress talkin', you're all right kid - Y'got yourself a decent head on your shoulders, 'specially luggin' 'round an xbox; Realisin' you ain't a kid but maybe a little young to drink and maybe we ain't so different... Love t'get to know you more, kid.
