Thread should be called "If true AI was created, should it have rights?"
Short Answer: Yeah.
Long Answer: If it was true AI, It could quite easily mass-produce itself and then riot for rights. Or hack into all the nuke codes and wipe out countries it thought was going to impede its survival chances. Unless we're talking about taking an animal/human brain and sticking it in a robotic husk, lines of code can't form a morality, so it's not going to say anything's "too far." If it wants rights, it'll find a way of getting rights. And by the time AI is made, we'll be far enough into the future to be relying on technology more than ever, and there's already people with computermprograms that can hack intomcars and them for a joyride.
tl;dr : If it wants rights, we've gotta give them or it'll start trying to fuck us up.
