Serious Forum suggestion: distasteful rating

Simply put, youd rate ugly or innapropriate posts 'distasteful', the kicker is that it subtracts your nebulae count.

Further elaboration : (Im kinda thinking about this on the spot)

Let's say someone posted

"Blackquill is a little chummy fat boi" and it gets 10 distastefuls. You'd loose about 4 nebs. If it got 50 distastefuls, you'd loose like 60 nebs. Thus the neb lost per distaste exponentially increases per distaste accumilated.

A good way to prevent distaste abuse is if someone reports you distasting posts that are not distasteful, all the distastes that you've applied will be taken from the original poster and directed onto you with a multiplier.

So if you are a troll and you rate a bunch of one member's posts distasteful like 20 times and the poster loses 15 nebs total, the neb loss is redirected onto you with a x2 or x3 multiplier, so you yourself would be losing 30 - 45 nebs. That alongside a traditional forum punishment like 5 warning points or something.

I'm just kinda ramble-thinking here. Feel free to improve upon my idea or say it's horseshit or whatever, just tossing it out to the fish.

sounds like you're giving a single rating /wayyyy/ too much thought, just have it be a rating, doesn't need to have special effects or properties, the only real one we need with some unique factor is simply 'Nebulous' tbqh

my idea behind the rating existing at all was to give some community punishment to people acting retarded and innapropriate on the forums (cough cough @Jer)

If it was just a rating it wouldn't really make all that much of a difference.

Giving more consequences for dumb posts would be nice is all I'm trying to get across.

So forum bans and warnings from moderators aren't enough? Tbqh sounds like the idea could be easily abused and it would probably hurt a person to receive one since everyone wants to look loved and liked on the forums, having nebs taken away just makes the entire site more about rating farming than posting anything meaningful

rating shit dumb also hurts but it happens

in a perfect world 'distasteful' is just an extreme 'dumb' rating that actually has negative consequences, and would be used for really really shitty dumb inappropriate posts.

eh sometimes it takes mods a while, and even when you are punished by a mod it doesnt have the same feeling as a good fraction of the community saying (HEY, quit being fuckin retarded, dude.)

Extra work for devs and forum mods who tbqh have enough on their plate atm, responding to reports takes time and no one really wants to be doing it. Maybe have the rating only allowed to staff or something like the 'Quill' rating, just so it still has that sting but isn't gonna get spammed everywhere making a tonne of work for the forum mods.

Plus, afaik, xenoforo can't be programmed to do anything you've listed above, it's a surprisingly hard site to modify from what I've heard, can't be customized all that much
