Welcome to those who take an interest in Garry's Mod or SourceFilmmaker!
It has been many years since I last invested time into scenery building and posing. Forgive the poor quality, I do plan on improving and utilizing any constructive criticism regarding my work. I have around 200-300 hours of experience in SFM, but, Garry's Mod has a lot more models available. Which is why I am going to be using this for the majority of my work.

I will be categorizing my work so people may struggle less in-case they like a particular piece. Hopefully, as time progresses so does the quality of my work. I welcome everyone who has experience and criticism to give.

I'm really surprised how this turned out in the end. I must say, it is a definite improvement over my previous pose. I think I nailed the lighting as well, but that's my own opinion. Any criticism to give?

I am not the most 'inspirational' when it comes to figuring our inspiration. This isn't really ''inspired'' at all, I tried to do something similar to what I'd seen in movies or films, but. It didn't really work out. I didn't have the heart to throw it out so I'll post it here.

Tried putting it in photoshop. I know my way around fog-effects somewhat. What do you think? The posing could be better without a doubt. It's a learning-curve.

Whenever I stumbled upon a scenebuild I always thought ''Damn, how boring it must get'' - But, once I learned the importance of building your own scenes and not being reliant on maps it made so much sense. I've never had so much fun putting together my own scene for a build and so far this is what I have come up with. Any tips? Camera Changes? Or lighting?

It's not done, I have in mind a ''convoy'' of sorts. Featuring British and French troops alike walking beside one another on a march back home. The lighting is temporary, I'm going to be using ''Soft Lamps'' as recommended.

(So many shadows)
I swapped from regular lamps to soft lamps and there is a major difference. It's a work-in-progress as one can tell and this will definitely be put into photoshop. I have spent at least 3-4 hours on this so far.

I think the guy on the left feels a little... stiff? It might be the position of his right arm.

Oh, the french bloke. Don't worry I left him standing in a t-pose for tomorrow. I'm going to make him come off as an ''Officer'' - Signalling the convoy to keep on moving.

the way he holds the MP7 looks really off here

like damn, that's a lot of weight applied to his right wrist

it would look better if he either had it at more of a resting position, or he was pointing the barrel forward (even if a bit downwards) for emerging threats. it looks like youre trying to do both at once and accomplishing neither rofl

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'll try to remake it at some point. But, it'll have to be from scratch since I didn't save it as I did not know how ;-;

I'm proud of this, it's the first time I really succeeded in creating my own environment from scratch, it looks genuine. The soft-lamps really improved the overall lighting, but, I did not know what to add in photoshop so I'll just put this here! What do you lot think?

I struggled the further this evolved, it was not an easy feat. This represents 7-8 hours of work.

New scene builds in progress, I am not close to finishing at all, I am going to try something similar to my first scene build but from a different perspective. I want to do something German, winter-themed. A Stalingrad-ish scene.

I am new to the whole ''scene build'' and have been looking at other pieces of artwork for how they dealt with distance, horizons, etc.

Update I:
This is taking a toll on my frame performance. I still need to fill the right-side with a slight horizon. I might remove the field and just keep it as a sort of marsh-looking land.

Update II:
2527A759D60CF3F1BDEC3CADAAF5912BB5090964

Empty field, accompanied by a new camera-angle that features a smooth horizon.

Update III:
22D127C39FFDDFA2D235C4268BE4725B26133763

Completed the horizon with a natural slope. I'll start adding debris and wreckages.

Update IV:
2344B19978BE48C1A60DD5E8DF8417D75E7B46A7

It has been a mind-boggling few hours (5-6) and I have made a fair amount of progress. It is 03:00 in the morning and I am working as a hog as we speak.

Update V:
E9773EF5113DF02AE427C543284F440D0EE7960F

Here is the latest update, it is still 03:00 in the morning and I will continue until I deem it time for bed.

Update VI:
81B47B91CF93646DBF55185D83C66563326C16A1

The last update, for now, it is 03:23 in the morning and I have made a great amount of progress with the background.

I am somewhat 'disappointed' with the finishing result. I keep screwing up the fog effect in the distance. If I'm being honest, I feel glad I got this out of the way. I tried something out of my league and feel as if I need to go back to the drawing board here.

But, I figured out how the lighting works with the soft lamps and light-bouncing.

I wouldn't say this is out of your league at all! You've done a really good job here. The smashed wall looks just right with the pile of debris and fallen soldiers scattered around. The only thing to highlight and criticise is your own dislike for the fog in the back! While it is actually a good example of fog maybe just some cloud looking substance from the explosion would be better.

If you're on Gmod you can hold C, then right click the fog box to edit it. Or use an emitter for a more smokey effect probably.
If you're on SFM, you can pause particles which is an old but working technique, there are tutorials out there for it.

Alternatively, you could edit it in with a photo editor if you have one to hand.

Great work though buddy :^).

:D, Appreciated. I'll try something different, more focused on perfecting scene-building and fog. Just to wrap my head around it.
