How to use vcs?

I don't understand how to use vcs can someone help me figure them out

I'll use an example how I think how to use them (Civil Protection)

So you type in chat "Can2" and it pops in chat and using the vc as "Pick. Up. That. Can?

I have never used a vc before and I just want to make sure this is how to use them for future reference

Never use Can1,2,3,4,5 etc.. etc.. :3 But yes.
