wouldnt hold on its own if it wasnt a non vr game. Mods that allow you to play like this show it

the game was built around VR. this is like saying HL2 wouldn't be worth playing without its innovative graphics and physics engine.

To me comparing Alyx's style of worldbuilding to HL2's is a little unfair.

In HL2 they had to be direct - what else were they going to do setting up a sequel under an occupation you knew nothing about? But going into Alyx you already know a lot of things about the world, assuming you are a fan.

I mean not every aspect of Alyx is subtle obviously but it feels in many ways a lot more genuinely cohesive than HL2 did.

Not sure why you spent a thousand on what I presume is a Valve Index, when you could have spent half that cost on just buying an Oculus Rift S instead and it would have worked regardless.
