What about a space station 13 server?

@alex @Blackquill @Jamie make it fucking happen.

Either a properly done Metro Roleplay or some sort of Zombie-Apocalyptic Schema Roleplay, both Serious. The Last of UsRP doesn't seem like a bad idea, it's kinda similar to HL2RP, could use the same Schema with tweaks left and right.

Anywhos, GMOD is stale, it's dying and we're daily losing players because of GMOD's capabilities reaching maximum capacity and things are getting old and nothing new is released.

Until we get a 'new' 'gmod', we'll have to stick with either HL2RP/MetroRP/ClonewarsRP, because they're the only three that are 'kinda' good.

We just need something original. Something that hasn't really been done before- that, paired with actual planning and good management? It'd be more of a success than the invention of birth control. The server I'm apart of had an original idea and we were doing fucking great, but due to a lack of planning and rushing things it's now slowly dying. Our peak used to be ~40 players on the weekends, now it's 10 if we're lucky.

That's the thing, making a gamemode that's both unique, enjoyable and sustainable long-term is not easy. Coming up with a cool idea itself is an effort, and then having to add a hook that keeps people playing? That's a whole different ballgame.

honestly we might as well just bring back experiment - literally all that would need to be coordinated is the maps, coding for items and such, and like the one or two staff people; obviously there's a bit more to it than that, but it's not nearly as work heavy as a regular RP server lmao

problem with unique ideas is getting the assets for it without ripping them from other games

id personally like constantly changing themes like metro rp to fallout to last of us and so on

keep it fresh keep it changing and keep it fun, doesn't have to go on forever

Rather than ideas for a new SeriousRP gamemode I actually have a couple of ideas for generic Gmod gamemodes °u° :

DeathTrap:
PVP FFA, all players begins with various weak weapons but can purchase an assortment of traps (landmines, tripwire, turrets, etc.) using points, the point of the gamemode is to kill all the other players using the various traps. As fewer and fewer players remains more powerful direct weapons are unlock, when only two players remain alive they are given insta-kill weapons to avoid a stalemate and finish up quickly.

Manhunt:
Team-based PVP, the majority of players start as "Preys" in the center of the map, they are unarmed and must reach the exit of the "Hunt zone" (a spheric area surrounding the spawn that covers most of the map), while the other players are the hunters, armed with various weapons with a high firepower but low cadence, they have to kill the preys before they escape. The preys can eventually find various one-use melee weapons (stones, shives, etc.) that allows them to insta-kill the hunters if they manage to get close enough. The game ends once there are no more preys or hunters alive in the Hunt zone, the winner is the player who totalized the highest score for their squad, the preys get points by escaping faster and without being damaged and by killing the hunters, the hunters on the other hand score points by killing the preys (bonus point for headshots, less points for finishing a prey previously injured by another player).

GodMode:
One vs All Survival/PVE, during the prep phase before the actual game all players must prepare prop barricades and set up various utility objects like weapon closets, ammo boxes, medkits etc., there are only a limited amount of different props to be used and each of them cost points. At the end of the prep phase a player is chosen randomly to become "The god" (the type of god is also determined by chance), there are various different deities a player can become and each of them has different powers, for instance the god of death can summon zombies while the god of water can flood the map with leeches-infested water, each power has a cooldown that depends on how powerful it is. The objective of the "Mortals" is to survive until the time runs out while the "god" has to kill them using their power, the god's power can hardly kill players on their own and must be combined to get most effective results.

ss13 only gets boring when you are an extreme gamer who knows everything already
ww3rp gets boring after dying once in a patrol

Both servers seem to be doing fine. The head staff aren't going to start a new server unless there's a problem with one of the current ones or if there's a huge overflow and we'd need to split the current playerbase.
