hello people of nebulous
I just learned the basics of hammer, yesterday, and triedfailing making a map. It's all from scratch, and I just tried my best with what I knew. If anyone who's a veteran at mapmaking knows any hints or tricks, or ways to improve the lighting (which I am terrible at) then please let me know :).

The small 'square' area, which serves as a spawnpoint and ends the estate.
The first floor of the two-storey 'Fleur Apartments', located in the right corner of the square.
A second floor, carpeted with red, on the 'Fleur Apartments' conjoined by stairs and overlooking the River Gole and its mooring area.
The start of the soon-to-be infamous estate path, linking the map together. Hence the name 'linear'. Starts at the square.
The view from the top floor window of the apartment, this is the small mooring area for the River Gole, which will be segmented across the estate.
A pleasantly-surprising tuck shop, located adjacent to the mooring area and containing a small polished oak counter for doing transactions in.
???
The plot thickens.
A stone's-throw away from the mooring area, this apartmental residence boasts two floors.
The interior of the residence, looking down the stairs.
The carpeted upstairs floor, for all your accomodation needs, unfurnished.
The not-so-elagant ground floor, with a small lightbulb giving a dim light and creaky floorboards from the upstairs patrons.
A small building with two doors, just beside the square. It has a window to look out at the grassy square.

Bird's Eye View
of the map so far.
So, give me some tips and opinions!
many thanks guys
