hello people of nebulous

I just learned the basics of hammer, yesterday, and tried failing making a map. It's all from scratch, and I just tried my best with what I knew. If anyone who's a veteran at mapmaking knows any hints or tricks, or ways to improve the lighting (which I am terrible at) then please let me know :).

ok here's some advice

don't bother with hammer

learn to use unreal engine
At this point I have to agree, amp yourself for S&Box. There's no longer a major point to learn Source's current level designing tools unless you're very keen on making maps.

It's not a bad start for a beginner map. Learn to use the nodraw tool, maybe watch a few tutorials. Look at other people's maps. You'll get there eventually. You have to be creative.
