Previous experience with Vortigaunt factions:
I played a few different Vortigaunts this iteration but outside of that I haven't played a Vortigaunt anywhere else.
Have you read the Vortigaunt Guide?:
Yeah

Character Name:
Ko'Regh
What kind of character do you plan on portraying? How do their traits distinguish them from the rest of their species?:
A reassuring, confident Vortigaunt. Ko'Regh knows that a Human's remaining time in life is not long, they only want to be as helpful as possible before they leave. However, having fought for so long, and witnessed so much death, Ko'Regh avoids attachment to others, often refusing to even learn their names- believing it pointless since they'll just outlive them.
Brief Backstory:

Death is something that all mortals must face, both throughout their lifetimes, & at the end. Death is responsible for great pain & fear, but it also sustains life via the meat on our plates. Those who can lighten death’s burdens are great appreciated by those nearest to it…

War on the Vortigaunt homeworld was rare, and often ended with minimal bloodshed once started. Ko’Regh was made a soldier at a young age- not because they enjoyed violence, but because they had no other purpose- as they were unable to utilize Vortessence.

Vortessence is a life-force that makes up the fabric of the universe- connecting all living things. Vortigaunts are able to exercise specialized organs, known as “vortal cords” to manipulate this power. Ko’Regh, however, had never learned or discovered how to manipulate theirs, despite centuries of trying.

Ko’Regh was already quite wizened when the Combine forces violently invaded the Vortigaunt homeworld. Despite their advanced age, they stayed behind to try and repel the invaders long enough for their cluster to escape.

It was during this horrific violence that Ko’Regh finally discovered their power. Witnessing their friends gunned down by invaders, Ko’Regh wished greatly to ease their suffering, and found they were able to. When they touched someone near to death, they were able to erase their fear & pain, calming & sedating them in their final moments of life- a bittersweet gift for the hurt & scared.

Eventually, the fighting became a lost cause & Ko’Regh was forced to flee with the last of the refugees. The borderworld of Xen was meant to be a safe haven between dimensions, and the only place close enough to flee to. There, the Nihilanth- an alien who had escaped Combine invasion of their own world before the Vortigaunts, enslaved the Vortigaunt refugees, and subjected them to horrific abuse. Ko’Regh arrived there greatly injured, and slept outdoors, where they went ignored by their fellows, as well as their oppressors.

Then, one day, the so-called “Black Mesa Incident” occurred, and the Nihilanth ordered his forces to invade this new world, Earth, that had accidentally connected itself to Xen. Ko’Regh, seeing a chance to flee Xen, snuck through the portals alongside the initial wave of invaders.

The Nihilanth’s invasion was a failure; leading to his death, as well as Earth’s discovery & invasion by the Combine. Many Vortigaunts were killed or captured in the ensuing chaos, including the majority of the Nihilanth’s forces.

During the Nihilanth’s invasion, then the Combine’s, Ko’Regh witnessed a great amount of death, and they did their best to reach out and assist as many Vortiguants & Humans as they could in their final moments. A small mercy amongst profound suffering.

Fleeing from the Combine, Ko’Regh found themselves in the wilderness outside of Kaliningrad Oblast. It was there that they witnessed a skirmish between Human & Combine forces. Once the fighting was done, Ko’Regh stepped out of the shadows and offered aid to a dying Human- holding their hand as they passed with a painless smile of relief on their face.

The Humans were extremely grateful for the Vortigaunt’s assistance in their comrade’s final hour, and offered Ko’Regh a place in the Resistance. Ko’Regh gladly accepted on one condition: that they serve primarily as a medic, and not a fighter.

The Humans gladly accepted these terms, and welcomed Ko’Regh. Unbeknownst to them, Ko’Regh didn’t care who eventually won the war, only that they be allowed to use their Vortessence to help others face death with dignity, bereft of pain or anguish…

What kind of group(s) are you planning to work with (if any)?:
Any that aren't primarily focused on fighting.
Do you intend to request a power specific to your character? If so, specify (Keep in mind you cannot use this in S2K situations):
They can induce a sense of tranquility in a human before they pass away, removing any and all physical/mental pain.
