Installing FiveM

You'll need to install Grand Theft Audio V from either Steam or the Epic Games Store. Next, you'll need to install FiveM. This is the modding platform that our GTA RP server runs on. Simply download the client, run the installer, and you're good to go.

FiveM Settings

You can find these settings by clicking on the gear icon in the top-right when you launch FiveM. This must be done before you join the server.

If you're experiencing some UI lag, try going to the Game section on the left of the settings menu, and enabling the NUI in-progress GPU setting:

Key Bindings

You can do this either in singleplayer before you join, or after you join and create a character.

Open up the ESC menu, click on SETTINGS at the top, then double-click Key Bindings on the left. Here are some common key bindings that you might want to change:
  • GTA Online -> Push to Talk
  • GTA Online -> Text Chat Everyone
  • FiveM -> Phone: Open (default: Up Arrow)
  • FiveM -> Player: Interact with player (default: Mouse 5)
  • FiveM -> Player: Open ped menu (default: Middle Mouse Button)
  • FiveM -> Voice: Cycle proximity (default: Alt)

Voice Settings

In the ESC menu, under SETTINGS -> Voice Chat, you'll need to make sure that voice chat is enabled, your microphone is enabled, and the proper input/output devices are set. Check the Voice Chat Volume and SFX Volume during Voice Chat settings as well - click on the right side of the blue bar to increase the volumes for each setting. Here's an example of "properly" configured voice settings:

If you find that people have a tough time hearing you, make sure your voice radius is set properly by pressing Voice: Cycle proximity (default: Alt). This will cycle your voice radius through whispering, normal speech, and shouting.

Reconnecting

If something managed to break and you're hard locked somewhere, you may need to reconnect. You can do this by going into the ESC menu and clicking on GAME.

HOWEVER, it is almost always advisable to quit FiveM entirely instead of disconnecting and reconnecting. Often times FiveM doesn't clean up stuff properly and will cause other breakages if you reconnect without quitting and relaunching first.

Added a note about quitting FiveM before reconnecting
