It's a pain in the fucking ass, but there's a way to open up the touch keyboard on the screen. How you'd do it if you were insane and actually want to make this functionable is you'd bind what would otherwise be the "Y" key on gmod to one of the unused buttons (like say on the back of the device) and then once the in-game chatbox is open, you then hit another set of keys to open the touchscreen keyboard.

Overall not very user friendly but this was more for the bit than an actual attempt to roleplay on it.
