basically valve for a while on the steam api provided information for how many players unlocked achievements to .16 decimal places out of all who owned the game (i believe at least), which has given data more accurate than most samplers can dream of
although this only works on games that provide achievements, thought itd be cool to read none the less considering this exposes quite reliable sales date on over 13 thousand games

i read this a week ago already but i must say that this is in fact a really interesting "exploit" to find out how many copies a steam game legitimately sold

apparently a friend of mine made 709,75€ from his little game released in april excluding the 20% vat tax and 30% valve cut
