Previous experience with Vortigaunt factions:
Years upon years of interacting with the Vortigaunt whitelist and I've personally had two Vortigaunts which varied wildly in concept. My actual playtime in the whitelist may not be as strong, but I'm comfortable in saying that my years of interacting with the faction on a consistent basis has let me arrive at a pretty intimate understanding of the concept and of the RP.

Have you read the Vortigaunt Guide?
I have, very nicely done.

Character Name:
Kahl'Lhan-Loor

What kind of character do you plan on portraying? How do their traits distinguish them from the rest of their species?:

Naivety. Aggression. Ambition.

Age cannot be blamed for these traits, only the young creature's experiences. (See: Brief Backstory).

Kahl'Lhan will almost never introduce itself to humans with its given name; this is for a few reasons, but the two predominant ones are simple - their inability to pronounce it and its own renouncement of the name. Upon any introduction with a human, it will only permit them to call it what they wish, provided it conveys some semblance of respect; most likely, whatever name seems to stick the most (and, of course, assuming it likes the name) it will come to refer to itself as that.

It is, as aforementioned, naive; at least, in the context of a Vortigaunt. Where most creatures of its kind may be grounded in some extent of logic and emotional control, Kahl is noticeably less-so, reacting more on emotion than logic a lot of the time; this isn't to say he's easily capable of total control loss, he may just come across as far more prone to acting in ways one of its kin might not normally.. which brings us to the next topic; aggression. Having been a member of a highly aggressive (for Vortigaunts) warrior sect that almost totally enveloped itself in near-constant war with the oppressors and even on occasion other sects, it's no wonder that Kahl is known for its split-second aggression and less calm tendencies. This isn't to say it's going to enter a rage every other day, no; far from it - it just may react more aggressively than its kin, at times, to an extent that is easily noticeable.

And, finally, ambition; while Kahl is hardly selfish - it only ever serves to the benefit of the greater masses - it will never leave a conversation without asserting its opinion on the matter, particularly during discussions of strategy and planning on the battlefield. It views itself as a capable warrior in the field and will take great offense to any implications of otherwise. If Kahl sees opportunity, it will take the opportunity; where some of its kin may urge caution and patience, it will urge a forward charge and the seizing of the moment.

One of the most noticeable features, however, is Kahl's outlook on its own kin versus humanity; rarely distinguishing the two aside from the inherent Vortal connection, the young Kahl views humans in no lesser light than its own kin, and - during arguments or conflicts - will almost never choose the side of its kin purely because of their species. Kahl has fought, lost, won and bled alongside humans for many years and - thanks to its shorter life - these years mean all the more to it. Humans have saved it, it has saved humans; its bolts of energy have flown through the air mere centimetres away from bullets travelling in the same direction.

It's worth mentioning, also, that Kahl is not a traditionalist; far from it. It views the ancient traditions of its kin to be lacking in applicability in the current circumstances, and such rarely pays them any respect.

While - again - age cannot be blamed for this stew of attributes, it goes to show that even the enlightened Vortigaunt is not prone to their own equivalent of naivety.

Brief Backstory:
Having been a member of a highly aggressive (at least by Vortigaunts' definition, that is) warrior sect the majority of its life, Kahl has only ever known conflict and battle; rarely has it ever had the chance to embrace the serenity of being that a Vortigaunt can quite easily experience, and its only motivation in life has been moving forward against opponents - be it in the context of war or 'sport' against others of its kind.

This warrior sect, however, came to regret its hyper-aggression; only a few years ago, Kahl's sect harnessed its ambition and made the incredible mistake of assuming it could - alongside a handful of well-equipped humans - take on a Combine supply convoy with a strider in escort. The hit was short and swift, but went terribly; their naivety and ambition led them to a hasty plan, which meant that they weren't aware of the reinforcements nearby - long story short, Kahl's entire sect was wiped out in less than an hour; hunted down one by one, with Kahl as the only survivor. This is why, to date, Kahl has almost totally rejected its name; it sees this as a link to its old sect and, in its own mind, rejects its name as a matter of respect - be this true respect or not, that's Kahl's view.

I've taken 'brief' somewhat literally so if you want this to be expanded, feel free to ask; there's ample detail beyond what I've written here, that's just the gist.

What kind of group(s) are you planning to work with (if any)?:
Any and all that seek the goal of the enemy's destruction, even if through means that its kin may not agree with. The defining factor is the motives; if an organisation has no interest in fighting or assisting the fight, Kahl will view them as pathetic and would choose not to even converse with them let alone assist them. It's a simple, but pronounced, criteria.

Do you intend to request a power specific to your character? If so, specify:
One power and something non-power-related.

This 'power' would obviously be something completely S2RP related; for lack of a better term, 'rage'. In a circumstance where it is either near-death or in a situation where death is nearly assured, Kahl can almost channel its own aggression in the form of stuffing itself full of Vortal energies; as though overloading itself. The downside of this is that - should it perform it - it will die; no matter the circumstances, it will essentially fry itself. This 'rage' only grants one thing; an insane, sudden, burst of resistance to all forms of damage - or, moreso, pain. Bullets will still be bullets, but its reaction to them will almost cease to exist; the ability will exist solely to cause as much damage before death as possible and then he will either die by his opponent's hand in the process, or fry itself in the process. Performing this is a one-way ticket and, as a sidenote, it will also prevent Kahl from being revived no matter the circumstances.

The 'non-power related' one is simple; antlion chitin plate armour and a spear. I understand if you'd prefer I make this myself once I have the character, however.

I am totally fine with being accepted for the whitelist but not being granted either of these. If I cannot get either of these, then I am happy with no special powers.

You'll be sent a PM about this soon.
