Unable to join the server

Heya, a friend introduced me to the server but I keep either freezing on the loading screen, crash or keep getting my screen frozen upon loading my character. I can still move around and hear what happens ingame, just cannot see anything. Literally like a ICly blind person
Any tips?

How good is your system? Partly sounds like a PC problem with the freezing and crashing.


Have you updated your graphics drivers recently

Have you tried verifying your gmod files, and reinstalling the content packs?

Are the required games mounted?, Half-Life 2 Ep:1, Half-Life 2 Ep:2, Counter-Strike: Source. Make sure they can all launch properly, if not then you'll need to reinstall or verify files. If they can't launch gmod most likely can't pull content from them.

Before u told me i didn't even know what a driver was
Keep in mind my computer is a macbook laptop with windows on it cuz Bootcamp, for the purposes of this thread assume it's a potato PC

RAM rn: 16 GBs
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770HQ CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz

Can you hear sound?
Is the screen completely black?

I can hear sound
I can make my character move
I hear what noise is around my character
Can see my mouse interact with icons

Just stuck on the last frame my Pc rendered before it froze
Which in that case was the main menu with the view of the church

You have all the content, and have restarted in order to allow Garry's Mod to update your workshop subscriptions?

Out of curiosity, have you tried joining with r_drawsky set to 1, and most of your graphics settings lowered?

And yes driver is up to date

I'm not sure if the i7-4770HQ has a built-in GPU, but from my experience using processor-based graphics gives problems like these.

I would definitely look to see if you can get a gaming PC or laptop, specs like a GTX 1070 tend to be quite cheap nowadays especially if second hand

Haha not having an actual job and still being dependant on others for money goes brrr
Sadly i cannot waste that much to play a single server

You might have some luck trying to find a tool that decreases the games graphics to make it look like roblox or minecraft.

Is the problem only happening on the Neb HL2?
Are you able to play on other gmod servers?

Yes I can play on every other server
Could I have a potato looking autoexec fig if any of you have one?

I am pretty sure tho it's the amount of addons in the content
This issue tended to arise on all servers which relied on many addons to work
