note clearly how all of them play for top tier,english premier league sides (barring the two goalkeepers, one of which still plays in the premier league). There's no standout, world class player but every one of them is plays at a very high standard.
The reason they've had some success, imo, is because the media's left them alone because they're a young side who don't have have a star player, and everyone's a bit deflated and bored with constantly having under-performing sides. Most of the time England do bad is because of the unbelievable pressure the media puts on them. It's always affected the English team in so many (bad) ways, from who gets the job to who's picked to who's played.
By the way, compare that English side with who they've played and on paper they should have comfortable bashed any of them, barring Belgium.
