Zombies & Headcrabs

The advanced, mutated state of a human when a headcrab is attached, these shambling creatures are, unfortunately, anything but the undead.
The damned souls that remain trapped inside are tormented, and tortured, in a strange half-life between conscious and not, all they can do is scream, as the headcrab controls all of their bodily functions. If ever removed, the subject will die -- a final, merciful act for the lost soul trapped within.

Headcrabs themselves must search, exclusively, for a host. They have no other wants, needs, or feelings. If captured or cornered, they are hyper-aggressive, but not suicidal - you can flee if outmatched or outnumbered. Playing a 'passive' or 'domestic' headcrab requires an application in the Application subforum using the format seen below. Anyone seen doing this without approval will have their whitelist immediately revoked.

Please note this whitelist is Premium only. Any applications from non-premium members will be automatically denied.

Whitelist Guidelines

Zombies are a whitelist available as a premium bonus. This bonus, however, is only granted under the understanding that you follow the rules laid out in this document.

Zombies are an additional piece of immersion for characters who find them. Your zombie is not to be a consistent character, but rather a generic example of their kind of creature, designed to disrupt peace and make areas that should be dangerous actually dangerous when there's no staff online or willing to do it.

Zombies are never to try and actually kill players. That is not your OOC goal. You should be playing to lose at all times. Playing to win, or trying to power-game kill people in S2RP, will result in investigation and possible de-whitelist.

You may work with other zombies & headcrabs, but are otherwise hostile to all other life forms.

Types of Zombies & Headcrabs

The half-life universe contains six types of distinct zombies, created from three types of headcrab. The standard Headcrab Zombie, the Fast Headcrab Zombie, the Poison Headcrab Zombie, the Zombine, the advanced Gonome, and the non-headcrab Zombie known as 'Jeff'. Of these six, only the first four are playable on the server, though all three headcrabs are playable.

Headcrab & Headcrab Zombie

The standard headcrab zombie is the easiest to apply for. Weak, slow, and stupid, they are created from the remains of rebels or citizens that got unlucky or snuck up on. Their only objective is to find food, likely by killing other creatures for it. Headcrab zombies are practically unaware of their environment. They will walk into fires, stumble into traps, and fall down pits if they believe food is past it. They have no regard for their own safety whatsoever, and if they're met with a firing line, they will blissfully blunder into it, and likely be gunned down.

The standard Headcrab itself is less stupid than the zombie that it becomes, but still not very smart. Incapable of really understanding where their jump will take them if they miss, Headcrabs are prone to dying idiotic deaths due to falling or landing in water. They are slow when walking, and only jump when required for either vertical or horizontal traversal over a gap, or to attack. They should not be seen jumping simply to move faster (with the exception of when you are alone, and trying to find RP)

Fast Headcrab & Fast Zombie

Ravenous, violent, and terrifying to behold, the Fast Zombie is the first of the Combine's mutant headcrabs to find a host. Within hours of attachment to a body, the Fast Headcrab's gestation period turns what was once a human into a horrific, nigh-unbelievable mass of stringy skin and muscles. Despite it's strange appearance, the Fast Zombie is ridiculously physically strong and agile. They can lift shutter doors, climb buildings, and push down & pin an average human to the ground. Characterized by their shrieking screams - a by-product of the person inside still being alive despite their horrifically grievous injuries, Fast Zombies are one step above the rest in their intelligence and strength, even going so far as to employ fear tactics.

The fast Headcrabs share a modicum of the intelligence of Fast zombies, but none of their strength. Prone to flight when outmatched, smart enough to hide, bait, and trick, the Fast Headcrabs are arguably the most dangerous to encounter due to their speed, aggression, and intelligence.

Poison Headcrab & Poison Zombie

More of a host body for gestation than a true hunting zombie, the Poison Zombie is an unfortunate soul. After days of gestation, the headcrab that attaches to the unlucky human will have laid a multitude of eggs in their body, from which more poison zombies will burst and crawl out. The neurotoxin that pulses through the poison zombie's body is enough to kill any regular human in mere moments, and yet it shambles along anyway - kept alive in a horrific state by the sheer amount of headcrabs both leeching and supporting it.

Poison zombies are slow, yet the most intelligent of all headcrabs. They are capable of sudden bursts of speed when spooked, and will always run away if they are outnumbered or outmatched. Poison headcrabs lie in wait in some locations, sometimes for days at a time, for the perfect opportunity to strike. Their bite is lethal, which means they sometimes lose out on a host if they miss, and only scratch their foe.
NOTE: If you are playing a Poison Zombie, DO NOT jump at a player. This will INSTANTLY kill them.

Zombine

An only recently seen addition to the Zombie catalog, the Zombine are the rarest of any Zombie. Most zombine are incredibly new - created from the bodies of the Overwatch Transhuman Arm (usually only Phase 1 soldiers, but others are sometimes encountered -- though the rarity increases tenfold each time) they are in a league of their own. Possessing both the strength and skill of the Transhuman that the host has attached to, they also have access to the soldier's arsenal -- both their armored bodypack and their grenades. As they are created from a standard Headcrab, they share that creature's lack of self-preservation, though coupled with a strange remainder of intelligence. Zombine are the only headcrab zombies that are still capable of some kind of coherent speech -- usually through the willpower of the soldier beneath's unflinching loyalty to the Combine, that they try and report to the Combine Overwatch even whilst serving as a headcrab's host. They can often be heard radioing that 'Unit is necrotic', or 'sector is not secure', in a slurred, pained voice.

Note that Zombine CANNOT communicate with anyone. They are only capable of haunting, almost pre-recorded-sounding words and phrases. Any Zombine seen talking to people - rebels, citizens, or combine - will have their character revoked immediately.

Rules

1.
Always Play to Lose.
When interacting with other players, you should always be playing to lose. If you're seen Playing to Win, Powergaming, etc, then you will be given one warning. Continued behavior like that will result in a dewhitelist. You'll then have to apply again after one month. You are only allowed to damage a player after their emote has indicated they've been damaged, which should be delivered by a single left click attack with 'creature abilities' (or spacebar, if headcrab, but NOT poison headcrab)

2.
Scripts
Do not, under any circumstances, pick up scripts of any kind, with the SOLE exception of obvious food items, like antlion meat, human meat, watermelons, etc. You are omnivorous and will eat anything that is obviously food. This does not include canned or tinned items, and you don't need water.

3.
S2K
If you are engaged in S2K without warning or emote, feel free to fight back. In that case, and that case only, you're allowed to P2W (play to win) in an attempt to kill them. You should NEVER initiate S2K however. It's frustrating, but just bite the bullet. If people don't want to RP with you and just want to S2K you, they are well within their right to.

4.
Attachment
Headcrabs that attach to a player's head must follow a linear progression. The first emote must be the attempt to attach. If successful, you must then emote trying to 'secure' yourself by some means, with a second emote. The third emote is then the lethal one, which is the player's last attempt to get rid of you. If all of these are successful, you are allowed to kill the player, but it gives them plenty of time to escape. If you successfully kill a player as a headcrab, send me a forum message with logs (or message me ingame if I'm on my staff character), and I'll upgrade you to the respective zombie, without an application required.

5.
Domestication
As written above, Domesticated Headcrabs are possible, but they must be applied for before any sort of domestication occurs. If you are ever killed by any means on your domesticated headcrab, you immediately revert to being a normal, wild headcrab, and must apply again. You also must be domesticated IC after submitting the application -- though you don't lose the right to be domesticated if you have an accepted application and have yet to be domesticated IC.

6.
Common Sense
The most important rule for this whitelist is to have common sense. Don't try to talk to people, don't try and be 'friendly', and don't be stupid. So long as you think about your actions beforehand, you'll do just fine.
