Most people on the server rn cannot afford a car, so basically everyone steals a vehicle. However, everytime you steal a vehicle a mythical ping is sent directly to the PD with the exact location and detail of the car stolen.

This has resulted in me getting into a chase every roughly 5 picoseconds as unless I want to walk from the PD to burgershot or somewhere equally far away I need to steal a vehicle. Quite literally I have had to go through like 6 chases in the span of 20 minutes when all I wanted to do is hang around at Burger Shot, but oh no I stand in Burger Shot and there's quite literally a cop on his radio whispering, very clearly telling my location but engaging in 0 rp with me, whole PD show up and I am tased and arrested and boom can't play for like 40 minutes* because I wanted to travel from one location to another without having to spend the next millenia walking.

The amount of brain rot this has given me is extraordinarily frustrating as I am forced to flee else I basically cannot play the game for a span of time and my blackhole of a debt increases ever further

*correction not 40 minutes, 165 minutes

Honestly, I do agree about getting a car RN is quite hard. However, one thing to note is I believe you ARE banned from burger shot like we get silent alarms by the employee's when you are there. Idk what's up with that or what you did do exactly to be banned from it.

Another thing is that while you have a stolen car a good idea would be to just park around the corner or at a closeby location and not on the parking lot in the meantime. That said I sympathize cause I can't imagine it's fun just waiting and because of how much in debt you are it is basically impossible for you to not do a crime.

So on one hand you caused this yourself but on the other hand you don't really have that big of a choice anymore.

Also, idk how the radar works but for some reason, the Speeding radar usually tracks your car more idk if you're unlucky or maybe we just spot you more. Cause some cars I know are stolen but the radar picks them up as normal.

TO BE FAIR, you did ram a car inside once, like because of you they added a barrier to burger shot lol

You were parked illegally

From what I've gathered so far, if an NPC pedestrian sees you break into a car/lockpick a car they will report it to the police, but if you carjack an NPC (and they don't fight back) they don't report it, making intersections a good place to get cars without being reported.

I've robbed cars all over the place and to me it seems the opposite, police never come and they always say the car comes back clear

I can confirm the same. For the most part, it's fairly easy to steal vehicles.

I don't think NPC's have anything to do with it.

I stole a black sports car when there was literally no NPC's in sight and drove to Burgershot, it got instantly identified by police from across the street as stolen, idk how they got the license plates considering they would have had a side view of the vehicle so idk how police know if something is stolen.

idk I guess I am just super unlucky then cause I got around 3 grand theft auto charges just yesterday

it's probably because u steal cars infront of police
I have done this rarely as a joke, the vast majority of my gta charges just come from going to burgershot and for some reason my vehicle comes back as stolen whilst others do not

If this is the one with the bike cops, iirc it didnt come back as stolen someone just claimed they saw you picking it's lock.

I decided with all the cops around to ask for license (something you should have but hasnt been detailed well whether driving without the physical license is a crime) and registration (the joke, no cars have registration we can verify currently).

You then drove off, cue a momentary chase

I dont think at any point we confirmed it stolen/being stolen outside of you driving off

nah the one I was referring to happened way later. The one you're talking about was the first chase, the good ol' times before I had to evade like 5 other chases just to get to burgershot

Ah alright.

I don't think NPC's have anything to do with it.
Also on this. They very much do.

Dispatch Report GPS markers (usually) come from the location of the reporting local/device and not the location of the crime/event

@Straven I mean just this alone is not enough for the cops to chase you as long as you don't run
"The car is actually mine. I am a locksmith that happened to be locked out of my own car. I am very sorry to waste your time, Officer."
It's not like we have a vehicle lookup system to verify whether the car is yours or not, at least no yet. Social engineering your way out of a situation is very much within the realm of possibility, and I have let people off with mere speeding tickets in the past. Even when the vehicle is stolen, I usually detained the individual for questioning, impound their car as part of an "investigation" process, and released them since they never admit guilt or anything of such degree.

As soon as you choose to flee from us, you are asking for a bounty on your head, whether that warrant is put up or not is a different question. The more difficult part from our perspective is determining whether we have sufficient grounds to perform a Terry stop on the person of interest, or whether we risk impeding the 4th Amendment.

I didn't have my license on me so I thought I'd get arrested for that
I think the charge in question more or so pretains to whether the driver in question has OBTAINED a driving licence, but it would be nice if @Jaydawg or @Jamie could clarify whether I have interpreted the description correctly or not. Since we can check on the MDT whether you have a licence or not, it is just verifying whether the person you claim is truly you or not - which can be done with a mugshot comparison in your circumstances.

This is how it would normally go if the driver is without their license on their person. The officer would proceed to take the drivers details, type them into the Police MDT to verify said details. This is to check if they even hold a drivers license or if it’s been suspended/disqualified. If the person in question does have their license on their person then the officer would proceed to use it to identify the individual and also to verify it with their MDT to check if the drivers license has been suspended/disqualified.

For now we haven’t got a system in place for disqualifying/suspending driving licenses or any licenses for that matter. But I’m sure that won’t be an issue for much longer I hope with the town hall being opened along with justice system.

If you give the officers your details and/or drivers license then they would more than likely let you go unless their cruisers meter pinged your car up as stolen. And of course it definitely helps your case if they don’t see you in the act of stealing a vehicle and then proceed to shove an officer out the way with said vehicle. Then I’m sure they’ll likely be more lenient.

You can also kind of talk your way out of it sometimes. I used to steal every news van I saw, and if I was literally ever asked I'd say that Weazel News shares their vans with us but as a practical joke they keep changing the keys to mess with us.

As for Negan, if he turned up in a car you'd find in sandy shores or a dirt bike I'd honestly not look twice at it, especially if he went "it's my cousins" or something. I think the only big point of suspicion is when someone that should be poor/in debt turns up in a sports car.

honestly i wasnt even aware u got banned for it but i was on scene and i was telling the tow truck driver he was in the wrong and basicly went "nah not negan's fault here"

Although I have to agree that the fine and time amounts are actually really high considering you can't make the cash back in a good amount of time. The economy has problems
