I currently own a Sennheiser HD 598 and am really impressed with the sound quality when it comes to listening to music and especially when it comes to video games. They're really comfy and you can keep them on for multiple hours without it being annoying, it rests really evenly on the top of your head and is in no way uncomfortable. I've probably done too much research on headphones in my lifetime but I'm pretty sure that this is one of the best non-amp headphones which aren't bass boosted to shit.
They're also open-back which results in better sound quality/stage but the people around you will sort of hear what you're listening to and you'll also hear more background noise such as your pc fans running. They surprisingly don't leak too much sound compared to other open beack headphones. I don't really notice background noise while gaming though due to all the shit that's happening around me in game.
You'll probably want to look around for a budget mic tho
+1 for the HD598s. I own one and I'm satisfied with what it provides for the price. Though, I don't use them myself (my father does), because I have a different, better pair of headphones. Still, they are a good purchase.
For a mic, an
Antlion Modmic is a good choice.

They aren't I'm afraid.
These go toe to toe with the HD600, despite the massive price difference.
This guy knows what he's talking about.
@Sir Goatson If you can spend the extra dosh, that pair is better than my previous recommendation.
