Title.
My second HyperX Cloud 2 has now started fucking up due to an issue with the cable. Although I love the headset and mic itself, it's pretty clear that I need something that doesn't break after just a few months.

Anyone got any suggestions? I'd prefer to stay within the same price range.

Best headphones you can get for that price, IF you're not a bass head. Their bass is light, but everything else from mids to highs is crystal clear and very detailed throughout. If you're asking why these in particular, unlike your previous ones, these aren't for consumers. They are meant for sound engineers/producers. There's nothing better than using the same gear they have for music, imo. Steam me for more details.

I use Turtle Beach Ear Force PX22, they're fantastic with audio and have a really good mic to boot. I've had mine for about three years with no issue. Comes with a little box that lets you change the bass and treble n stuff. Should be able to get them for around £50.

i had PX21 for less than six months and they broke when i was straightening the cable with very light force so keep that in mind goatson

my personal favorite of headset ever was siberia v2, sound quality is good and mic is okay, and don't break easily, I had the other earcup hanging from one wire after I tossed the headset at the wall and it STILL functioned, so a good headset, especially comparing it to its pricepoint
you could get something more like siberia v3 etc since they're probably as good or even better, but they're more expensive

I currently own a Sennheiser HD 598 and am really impressed with the sound quality when it comes to listening to music and especially when it comes to video games. They're really comfy and you can keep them on for multiple hours without it being annoying, it rests really evenly on the top of your head and is in no way uncomfortable. I've probably done too much research on headphones in my lifetime but I'm pretty sure that this is one of the best non-amp headphones which aren't bass boosted to shit.

They're also open-back which results in better sound quality/stage but the people around you will sort of hear what you're listening to and you'll also hear more background noise such as your pc fans running. They surprisingly don't leak too much sound compared to other open beack headphones. I don't really notice background noise while gaming though due to all the shit that's happening around me in game.

You'll probably want to look around for a budget mic tho

+1 for the HD598s. I own one and I'm satisfied with what it provides for the price. Though, I don't use them myself (my father does), because I have a different, better pair of headphones. Still, they are a good purchase.

For a mic, an Antlion Modmic is a good choice.

They aren't I'm afraid. These go toe to toe with the HD600, despite the massive price difference.

This guy knows what he's talking about.

@Sir Goatson If you can spend the extra dosh, that pair is better than my previous recommendation.

Thing is
A. I'm a cheapskate and I thought the ones I have now were quite expensive
B. Although I've considered a modmic together with proper headphones in the past, I'm too much of a lazy-ass and I just want a good headset with a built-in mic.

Well, you'd be surprised how expensive the audiophile hobby can get.

If you ask me, a 'good' headset with a built in mic is hard to find. If it's labeled as a gaming one, stay away, because there are generally better and at the same time cheaper alternatives. I've heard these are very good for the price for gaming.

just saying, don't get the turtle beach ef x12s because they make this buzzing sound however if you've got a charger with a detachable usb just plug your usb into a nearby extension, put your 3.5mms into the jacks and you're good to go, no buzzing however you may explode

Don't get a headset.

Buy good headphones and a ModMic, that way you don't sacrifice sound quality just for the use of a Microphone.

Personally I use these but it's probably overkill for you: http://www.akg.com/pro/p/k702
