I've dealt with the smell of burning plastic for quite long after I spilled coffee on my old HP Pavilion dv6. After a while, the battery died and the CPU's cooling fans stopped as well. Had to do what father told and kept the damn thing straight outside with... Idk, probably arcane magic at that point. That laptop was basically living on duct tape and hot glue
Burning plastics =/= burnt electronics

most heat from my pc comes from my gpu overworking itself because its as old as time itself
im just gonna install a few more fans and add a new gpu so i dont have the problem, maybe you should too

He's stated that they don't really go over 50/60C

Nvidia is good man. Don't change. AMD has more overheating because Nvidia is legit sponsored by every game in the world.

yo, if im playing something like watch dogs 2, that is taking up all my Video memory, and im playing at low settings, at like 40 FPS or 50, and the temperature is 40-50, and then suddenly, my PC freezes, and goes to 0.5 frames a sec or something, for like 3 seconds, and makes really weird loud static noises, then it shuts down and is really hot, and i can smell some odd burnt plastic from it, yet the GPU was only at 40-50, can it be the processor?

oh also, i may want to add that the thermal paste (might be source of smell???) is like 3 years old as thats when i got this computer, pre-built
I know this is late, but you really need to consider getting a new CPU. It's not your GPU at all. Make sure that your CPU is properly being cooled, consider upgrading your cooling system, check to make sure there's thermal paste in between the CPU and your heatsink. Now that I think about it, if you begin to smell shit, turn it off immediately, and don't try to turn it on again until you can assess the situation either from what I said above or by some other means. However keep in mind it is most likely an overheated CPU since your system locks up upon starting up a decently demanding game.

Here's the thing, like a week ago, I moved my computer out a little in the room, so it got a bit shaked up, and magically i played 1.5 hours of rainbow six siege before it even started smelling, then i let the computer rest an hour and did it again... Odd.

Possibly the cause is if your PC was in a corner the air blowing out was still in the general area due to the walls near it so it really wasn't being dissipated correctly.

try cleaning the insides of it, might be very dusty. compressed air should do.

Compressed air or rubbing alcohol on a dry cloth works wonders.

Also check to make sure you aren't shorting unimportant electricals in, connected to, or around your PC.

BIG UPDATE:

It is now confirmed it is the CPU.

Following things have happened since:
CPU has been fine sometimes for some odd reason, then suddenly goes to shit and overheats in 30 minutes of lowest settings Rainbow Six Siege.
A fan has been broken in some way, as I can hear it sounding oddly.
I cleaned it out this sunday, and two weeks before that. Saw no broken fans then.

What I'm planning:
I'm planning to get myself an:
AMD Ryzen 1700
MSI x370 carbon pro motherboard

And then later upgrading my graphics card, because the graphics card wasn't the issue at this time.

Before I get the Ryzen and motherboard, this weekend, I'm going to open my computer, and check the thermal paste on the CPU. Not only that, I am also going to run the computer while open to see if some fans are perhaps broken.

Ok thx anyone who helped.
