frames per second, if you have lower frames per second, your game would be stuttery and you'll end up getting a headache
average FPS is usually 60, it makes things look smoother and easier to operate

There's more ways to make your game optimized, the optimization is cause of the game syncing with the over-usage of your CPu, if your CPu is low, stop some programs in startup with task manager, I will be able to provide more info If I can change the language of my pc

mat_dxlevel 90

I played on a really laggy map once and when I typed in this command, my FPS went from like 15-20 to 150-200. The graphics get a bit worse but it‘s alright, just never ever type in mat_dxlevel80 and you should be fine.

Go into the main GMOD folder, find the CFG one and open AUTOEXEC with Notepad++ preferably. Paste everything there and it should put them up each time you launch the game.

Excuse me if I didn't see it but the best option to literally boost your FPS by 100% is to enable the 64bit version of GMOD.
Do so by going into Steam Library -> Garrys Mod -> Rightclick=Properties -> Betas -> x86-x64 awesomium
after downloading that you get asked to choose between 32bit and 64bit version, you choose 64bit version and like get average 70-80fps, atleast for me in 2K, Full HD should be like 100-120FPS, depending on location

-edit: Credits to @LiamMcKnight , he helped me out with this first
