My dad just passed me these. Already had a few of his older ones but they were tiny. I mean these are still old and they were rusty as fuck before I gave it some wd40 but *shrug*. I'm working my way up to larger weights as I go. Generally I lift until I can't move the weights a fucking inch, then wait like 30 seconds and go again until I'm fucked. Eat some fish w/ salad 'n' beans then try again. Got a routine at the gym but it's nice to chill alone doing it sometimes.

testing around atm, aiming for close to 140g protein per day
driving to the market tomo, will hopefully find a way to refine my diet
i'll see how it goes after a couple of weeks

I've been going to the gym since the end of April, though I haven't been in a month or so cause I got a horrific cold and managed to fuck my back (which sucks and I wanna get back to it). I've been steadily improving though - I have a lot of muscle problems which means I need to take shit slower than a lot of people would.

All the same though, I genuinely enjoy it. I usually go three days a week for two hours and I've seen a huge improvement in myself. I ended up having to pack the diet in my trainer gave me though back when I started because it was unbearable - chicken and rice and shit like that, six small meals a day every day. I just... couldn't.

dietary wise i've just upped my protein and carbohydrates heaps, started eating less junk food

workouts havent been consistent but im averaging like 4 days a week

even with all the inconsistencies i've managed to put on roughly 3-4kg of muscle mass and it's showing

all these people saying "YOU GOTTA DO EVERYTHING PERFECTLY" is a pack of bullshit lmao, unless you're late-stage and your fat percentage is low as fuck you dont needa be so anal about it

personally i've made the switch from meats (still eat chicken/tuna though) to vegetable based stuff

beans, rice, broccoli, asparagus and all the other stuff is fucking top tier if made right

but like, how much protein would you eat a day then if you had 6 small meals of chicken and rice

tl;dr meat is not a big part of my diet anymore and i can recommend it to all /fitbros/ out there

Credit to my trainer the guy has been bodybuilding for 30+ years and has won a load of shit internationally but the diet was the sort where you'd have a meal plan but it'd be the same thing daily- so you'd have two chicken and rice one day, then sweet potato and a salad, etc etc. You could mix it up but it was all variations on the same 3/4 meals.

I got one week in then developed PTSD the next time I took the chicken and rice out of the freezer to reheat it. I just couldn't lmao - but I still eat healthy and only really break that once a week on my day off.

i cant stand the taste of 95% of vegetables so the shit im eating is mainly meat based

either works really well honestly, my dad's on a combination of meat and vegetables and it's working just as well for him - mind you the process is a lot slower given he's in his 50s and has to lose weight before he can gain. he's also on an entirely different workout system to me

Ok if you ever end up making anything asian-esque in terms of cooking (we're talking rice and some chicken/pork in a pan) do the following

add bamboo shoots
add brocoli
bell pepper too

make a nice thin soysauce based sauce to drape over the stuff and try it out

its really nice, and was my entry into eating more greens

also you can try frying some asparagus in butter in the pan, have it with a piece of chicken/beef and some roasted potatoes and you're golden

Daily reminder that tuna mixed with mayonaise, salt, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, maize and bell peppers as an optional on some BIG BLACK RYEBREAD is a god send

i usually have those uncle bens sachets with tuna and sweet chilli sauce but i can see how mayo would go with plain rice ill give that a try cus that sounds pretty nice
