i get what you mean by "grungy" though, menu music with that sorta feel to it definetely does ring a bell. if it was default clockwork music alex or anyone involved in the development in CW might recall what was used as the menu music for the barebones/default CW versions

iirc was used in some clockwork versions as the default menu music. could be wrong though.
if i remember correctly there were several pieces from the HL2 soundtrack that were sometimes used as menu music in CW servers so maybe having a look through...
don't use g2a use cdkeys. not as scummy as g2a and more trustworthy (imo), haven't had an issue with a single game i brought on there except one which i didn't realise was for a different platform. even though i had revealed the key (but not used it) they still gave me a full refund
