yeah clearly, but the fact that CM2013 was done in-engine and is actually playable just blows my mind
Yeah, I know. That's badass, especially for the source engine, since it doesn't really look that good unless it has some engine modifications (i.e. Insurgency)

Fucking someone needs to make Gmod for Unreal Engine.
i saw on facepunch someone was creating an engine (working on it on and off since like, 2012 i think), and he said he planned to just make sort of a do whatever game like gmod. if it does get anywhere, it would be cool, especially since the engine could be easily modifiable, and it would remove a LOT of the limitations that gmod has.

i think this is it: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1490195

It is REALLY good looking. It makes you feel as if that it is reality.

The city streets during the rebellion look like actual streets to. Like, there is no good way to describe it.

But boy does it take looooooooooong to download.

I'd prefer CW to be on UE4. Just imagine the beauty! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
never happening

OT: i wish only for the textures to be packed and uploaded as an addon for gmod, making the game look god tier

i could probably give it a shot

edit:
keep in mind though, a lot of the reason the game looks as good as it does is because of custom shaders, particle effects, and level redesigns

it would look good yes but you couldn't make it look as good without that same redesign process

ark survival evolved?

doesn't ue4 have some problem with multiple cores?
Source engine has some problems with existing. I'd rather have some minor than it being on the verge of you doing anything larger than turning your head being deadly for your framerate

never heard of ue4 itself having core issues

some games yes, but not the engine itself

besides, up until like a week ago, gmod couldn't use multiple cores
i don't know, have you seen ue4's c++ documentation?
in terms of mapping it would be 89125.3% easier in unreal

plus, code for the gamemode itself could be added to the engine, not tacked on with a secondary language

okay, the multi core issue must have been pulled out of my ass or some shit, but i swear i heard something was fucking up with the way it handled processors

also about gmod not supporting multiple cores, it doesn't need to, source engine is one of the easiest engines to run, ever. almost any computer can run it with decent graphics

the mapping would be so much easier. hammer is, by modern standards, heavily obfuscated, difficult, and of course out of date. plus ue4's mapping tools are really good. no doubt about that.

the documentation for the code in ue4 is really bad. like really, really bad.

have a look at the docs for ue4 c++ here: https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/API/

and compare it to unity's here: https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/

you can see the amount of documentation for ue4 pales in comparison to unity's, unity's is much more clear cut and easy to use, along with a UI that isn't cancerous and hard to navigate

ue4 has a lot more power, but it's a lot more raw than unity

of course, ue4 has blueprints, which anyone with a brain and some time can use (it's a bit more to it than that, but it would open up addons and modifications to a larger group)

i love ue4, but it isn't perfect (and it would be badass to see a gmod type game implemented in it)

not claiming it's perfect, not by any stretch

but the fact that it's free and is regularly updated with community fixes and suggestions makes it a prime target for getting into, considering it'll only keep expanding from here

plus you don't have to pay $60 to change the color of the editor cough cough unity.....
