Girls und panzer is just every country steriotype thrown into a pot.

Youjo senki is pratically a mix of ww1(Mainly) and a sprinkle of ww2. With a Nazi Loli as the MC

Gurren Lagann is the only anime I've ever watched and it's pretty funny.

Quan-Zhi-Gao-Shou

A more realistic take on something like SAO, yes it's a power fantasy thing but it's fun to watch and doesn't contain tons of fan-service or any incestuous loli nonsense. It's only got a couple of episodes, it's Chinese rather than Japanese but you get used to it. There's no english dub available afaik.
