Never trust manufacturer benchmarks, I'd wait for independent ones. That being said, the new 3000 series will be an improvement as on paper it offers so much more.

I would still wait just to see how much of an improvement they are over last gen, as they also cost more now.

it will still be an upgrade to my 980

Yeah but depending how big a difference there is between the 3000 series and the 2000, an old(er) gen card might be a better buy if you want to consider used cards. If you don't then fair enough.

tbh the 3000 series is pretty pointless. I've got a 2060 and it runs heavy VR games and standard games really well, considering im still on ddr3 ram and a 4790k

Just wait till the 3070 comes out. It’s around 500 dollars and it’s much better then a 2080ti. Which up until now was the best you could get. A 2080ti will cost like 1200 dollars. So you’ve got over half the price for more performance.

For 200 dollars more, I think the 3080 is a more worthy upgrade. I only upgrade every 10 years so I might as well spend that little bit extra.

not when u got a 980...

You could save about 100-200 quid going for the 2000 series though

who the fuck is going to pay 2018 prices for a 2080ti after the 3000 series launch

like even here where we pay 20% more for everything (thanks goverment import taxes!) they're down to 600 or less

bit like buying a ford pinto with engine problems "because it was only $200 less" than a good working car

make sure you invest in a good CPU though
maybe get a slight bit more RAM

no point in getting a 3000 series and being bottlenecked to shit by some other component

Recommend 32 at the least, 16GB sucks and you won't be able to multitask across applications.
16 is fine at the moment imo unless you have two monitors and do something multitasking while gaming or w/e - 32 if you wanna futureproof though I guess as that'll probably start becoming the standard

question: what's your RAM speed @bubblegum? if it's low you might be better off upgrading to faster RAM instead of getting more RAM, ryzen CPUs (especially ryzen 7) really love fast RAM

i've got loads of ram sticks but we're too far away or they'll be incompatible with your pc
i brought roughly a pack of 8gb ram and a pack of 16gb ram for like 50 quid during the christmas peroid

we have literally the same specs LOL

i got 16gb ram because i only had so much money, it serves me absolutely fine but i’ll more than likely upgrade in the future

but yeah i’m running a ryzen 7 3700x and a 2070 super with 16gb ram and it runs like butter. absolutely no issues.

i run gmod and some other games off my m.2 and i’ve gone from 2 hour load times to 45 seconds from pc boot to char select screen

you won’t need 32gig unless you’re playing cities skylines or something really fucking chuggy
