I've arrived here to tell you a tale of the great hero-king, a tale of Arngrimr, who's journey through life took him from an acting pretender of the Swedish throne, nearly collapsed, to the undisputed Viking-Emperor of Scandinavia, Hero of the Wolf Warrior Lodge, slayer of christians and founder of the now legendary bloodline of Arngrimr.
Our tale begins on the 17th of November, 904 C.E. The realm of Scandinavia, previously united under the single crown of Botulfr of Sweden (who died tragically in combat in his 40s), has been split between three half-brothers; the eldest, Gunnarr of Norway, the youngest, Alf of Denmark, and the middle, Arngrimr of Sweden. Arngrimr, the first choice standing heir to both the Danish and Norwegian throne, immediately got to work.
At age 16, Arngrimr conspires with the spymaster of Denmark to smother the two-year old Alf of Denmark with a pillow in his quarters. The plans goes off successfully and immediately after the tragic death of the small baby boy, Arngrimr inherits the throne of Denmark. Now a dual king of two realms, Arngrimr sets his sights on his half-brother in Norway. One morning, the 16 year old Arngrimr shows up at the court of his 21-year old brother and challenges him to a duel of blood and honour. Easily slaying his brother without a lick of mercy, he claims the Norwegian throne.
Now a thrice-told King, Arngrimr settles down, gets a wife and starts a family. He has one daughter with his wife before his wife-queen reveals her unfaithful ways, having a child with one of the distant High-Chiefs of the Sami lands. Arngrimr, very insulted, challenges his wife to mortal combat, slays her without mercy and then gets a new wife. Arngrimr develops a complicated relationship with his first daughter, becoming very insulted when she chooses to run away to a distant kingdom to become a lowly scholar, abandoning her warrior-training so thoughtfully bestowed on her by her father. She dies of bad health in her late teens, still isolated from her father. Arngrimr, claiming it a personal victory, travels to the kingdom himself, digs up her grave and claims her skull as a trophy
Arngrimr spent most of his life raiding the coasts of England, Germany and France, as well as conquering the remaining sami lands of Finland, adding them to his growing kingdom. Soon enough, Arngrimr claims enough of the scandinavian lands to officially crown himself Emperor of Scandinavia. His later days were spent mostly having feast and chasing off plots on his head (his dungeons often overcrowded with Jarls, Kings and christiand apostles). During his final decades in life, he finds young love again with a 16-year old commoner who he makes his concubine, they have two sons, one of them becoming both quick and attractive, becoming the heir of his throne.
All in all, Arngrimr died quietly to stomach-cancer at the late age of 77, closing his life with 90+ personal kills to his name, earned through ritualistic sacrifices during his grand feasts, as well as the various duels he entertained himself with throughout life. The bloodline now continues with his son Olafr, who will carry the immense legacy.
Entirely iron man by the way
