this is what ive been up to recently instead of roleplaying lol this game is very good

In the beginning there was the Han, who ruled China since time immemorial - the land grew rich, the people prospered, the warlords grew in strength and, in shadow, plotted to rule...

Then came of the tyrant Dong Zhou, the Yellow Turban Revolt, the coalition against the barbarians and warlords of the realm.

In time, Dong Zhou lost control of the young emperor Xu and perished, the yellow fire swept through the land and the noble lords of the coalition turned on one another...

From this chaos emerged the Three Kingdoms

SONG 宋 - Controlled by the northern warlord Yuan Shao, former leader of the Coalition and old friend and rival of Cao Cao

WU 吳
- Controlled by the warlord south of the Long River, Sun Jiang - the Tiger of Jiandong.

WEI 威
- Controlled by the cunning Cao Cao, based in central China, between the Yellow and Yangtze.

The realm fell into total conflict as these three kingdoms made war for supremacy. Cao Cao's immediate threat lay first to the north, across the Yellow River where Yuan Shao prepared an offensive army group. Pre-empting his old ally, Cao Cao crossed the river and led a campaign of swift action into the northern heartlands, aided by the bitter rival clan of Yuan Shao, Gongsun Zan.

With the northern threat dealt with with the capture of Taiyuan and the imprisonment of Yuan Shao, Cao Cao led his campaign south over the next year, bringing his armies to face Sun Jiang.

The Tiger of Jiandong's proudest army fell to an ambush north of the southern imperial capital Changsha - three armies fell upon the Wu forces, smashing them and allowing the capture of Changsha. With all three imperial captials under his control, Cao Cao had claimed the Mandate of Heaven - his in perpetuity, to be held by his descendants after him.

Cao Cao, the first emperor of Wei China, sat the throne for 3 years - after declaring the Kingdom of Wei, taking the rival Imperial capitals and ending the War of Three Kingdoms, defeating Yuan Shau and Sun Jiang, Cao Cao died of sickness late in life and did not live to see the realm united.

His first born son, Cao Ang, led campaigns to quell the War of Vassals - wherein the warlord allies of the Cao rose up against the emperor following the death of Cao Cao. The houses of Yuan Shao and Liu Biao/Lady Cai capitalised on the chaos in central China and led rebel forces across the Kingdom of Wei. For several years, the armies of Cao Ang fought famine, revolt and defeat to eventually bring about the defeat of rebel forces at the Battle of the Yangtze (The Battle of Nine of Generals).

With the threat in central China defeated, new powers arose in a coalition surrounding the son of Sun Jiang, Sun Ce - the Wolf of Jiandong. Around him were other minor kingdoms that sought to push the Kingdom of Wei and Cao allies north of the Yangtze. Cao Ang personally led the campaign deep into the southern mountains. This would prove to be a disasterous endevour as their army was ambushed, with Sima Ye - the Cao's closest adviser, being killed in the initial battle, with Cao Ang himself being killed in the retreat.

The crown would pass to his brother, Cao Pi - who would father Cao Xu, the future of the dynasty. Under Cao Pi, order was slowly restored to the realm - the betrayal by Gongsun Zan, who rose up in the north, was pushed into defeat. The southern warlords collapses under continued pressure from the combined Wei armies and, after years of campaign, Sun Ce himself was cornered and forced into battle at Hougaun (Battle of the Red Grass), a tiny pocket on the southeast coast and final settlement of the once mighty Kingdom of Wu...

The battle proved decisive; elite archers ruined the Wu forces, heavy cavalry ran through and smashed their formations while Protectors of Heaven bared down on their disorganised frontline. Cao Pi, joined by his brother Cao Qian, personally led the charge, chasing through the chaos to duel Sun Ce. When the Wolf of Jiandong saw his army routing, he attempted to flee - but was mobbed by the Wei cavalry, thrown from his horse, and killed.

With his death, the last major obstacle for unification was removed.

The dynasty, forged from 46 years of war and strife has culminated in the Peace of Taiyuan (236AD) which resulted in the remaining houses acknowledging the dynasty of Cao as wielding Mandate of Heaven.

What beta build you playing this time?
A mod my man, it's called Still Alive, a PC Port from the Xbox 360 Exclusive Levels in Portal 1, that mod also has a custom final ending, which these pictures come from.
