If you're not creative enough to create a fitting character within the lore, that's more on you than anybody else.

If you make a solid application for an English speaking character, you get English flags.

If I blasted Western music on radio and the Stasi/Soviets told me to turn it off and fights broke out, I'd consider that a feature.

i was gonna write all the questions but i'm either too lazy or can't write in such a capacity

but the server felt different. it was a breath of fresh air compared to the (at the time) stagnation of hl2rp, and was almost a nostalgia trip back to old ww3 for most.

went by 'Toreno' to everyone but the NJSOC guys, you're right about the real name yeah.

@Numbers walked up behind me and asked to see the PKM I had in my hands, I gave it to him (despite me and @afric's suspicions about him) since we had worked with him in the past and I figured he was just OOCly curious since it was the first real one we had managed to obtain long ago. He then pointed my own gun at me (lol), and sent in two stasi goons - at which I pulled out the detonator for a bunch of explosives I had on me and told them that we'd all die if they tried anything violent.

They foolishly put in a s2k /me and started shooting despite the very clear danger, the bomb detonated right next to the main ammo cache and killed everyone (numbers ran despite me trying to set it off before he ran out, oh well) and that was the end of the real federalists.

You didn't do jack, we (the real NJSOC) did it.

@afric and me had them whacked by some native gangsters (who in turn co-opted @char's KGB guy, and he used them too, it was a real clusterfuck) because they threatened to leak his identity and cause a bunch of complications for us, we gave them a few chances to back down, they refused, so one of them was executed in the mountains and the second one capped on a stretcher when they were moved into the temple for first aid.

All @Numbers did was watch it and claim credit lol.

I didn't claim to have anything to do with killing the two NATO 'traitors'. We knew they were Federalists, and only one of them we knew as ex-NATO. As I said, from what I knew, Char and Afric were in talks with a few mercs and they did the dirty work.

I found out about that on Freddy and decided it would be a good excuse to leave, Numbers decided me leaving would be a good time to assassinate me and take credit.

honestly you leading the Federalist and State at the same time always rubbed off wrong for me, you had control of both sides after @Mendel stepped away.

no, no, he's right about the killing of Fox and Bio Junior's char.

Yeah, that's the one. It's hard to recall everything precisely without the old stasiland forums and the intelligence posts.

It rubbed me the wrong way too, and I told it to Roosebud.

That's why I tried to write my character off. I made sure not to let the balance of power shift too rapidly one way or another. Numbers just capped me instead. Part of the reason I never went after Bio Junior's ex-NATO. He revealed himself publicly and everybody knew it. I understand why it would rub people the wrong way, which is why I was losing my mind after Freddy died and everybody started to push my undercover agent towards leadership.

I didn't want to lead both at the same time and I was upset when Mendel let himself die a martyr, because that put me directly in charge.

Imagine being uninvolved in the situation and making such an assumption.

Even the federalists that were left behind after the leadership purge amounted to little in the long run, their supplies were haphazardly vandalized and looted, while their official support came to the end with the collapse of NJSOC. Their heaviest munitions squandered and destroyed, no intelligence, no allies.

It felt to me, as if the ones who remained, we more interested in the equipment to PVP, rather than the continuation of the story and ideology of the Federalists.

Part of the reason the trigger was squeezed on the operation was the transition towards the more PVP focused aspect of the server with the reintroduction of NATO.

I felt the storyline itself was pretty damn good and I think overall, there was a good job of creating a lot of different plots and stories throughout the server, the raid on a munitions has and strong arming @Northgate into revealing the location, to which, we blew it sky high and left, giving the village amnesty for their subversion of the state. Everything was done for the experience.

My role, despite being to basically execute people who do incredibly dumb things or just happen to be caught in a bad situation, felt like a role in which I would find excuses to not kill, or to avoid ending a story, or if I did, it would be to a good conclusion, such as the situation with Dietrich Hersh and his battle-buddy, which I sadly forgot the name of. I never really enjoyed killing off characters, so when I did, I tried to make it as climatic as possible with a way out. I hope that for the most part, I nailed that for most people. Unfortunately, you East, were very good at remaining elusive and hard to find and get information on. Harder than most of the other people we had suspicions on and up until you were killed, we still never knew you to be NJSOC, which is commendable. I don't even think we dug much into you. Great work.

Speaking from what I remember, it seems that a lot of factions suffered from a "this is new and exciting" brain drain when it came to later additions, even the staff team (to an extent) was affected by this.

Whenever great change emerged (such as the re-introduction of the Warsaw Pact side, Stasi's D9, later even the NATO battalion) and a new faction/other thing was introduced, often the few active players would clamor aboard and neglect their older (faction or otherwise) obligations or even decline into inactivity over time as the craze wore off.

As an example, NJSOC started with about six people from memory, me @afric @Danny @Angel @kifer and someone else who's name I can't remember off the top of my head. That sixth person didn't even show up a week into launch and ended up removed, as was Angel a few months in, followed by Kifer when his coursework piled on and couldn't spare the time.

That left me, @afric and our own lead against the entire soviet arsenal, the stasi and the ineptitude of some of the fellow insurgents.
We ended up getting wiped out thanks to the king of compass designations, @Numbers, which paved the way for NATO to be reintroduced as their own core component in the dying days of the server.

I think our success laid in the simple strategy of simply never telling anyone outside of the unit who we were or what we were doing. We were 'tourists', or 'mechanics' or 'that tow truck driver', unlike the remnants we didn't shout our identities from the rooftops and always used codenames and cover identities.

The only one we trusted became @Numbers and that was after him sniping half the battalion and other acts you really wouldn't think a stasi agent would do to his own side, then again you didn't have a good grip on him yourself and that pretty much screwed everyone playing the espionage game up in the end. I mean, he was the guy behind the plot to kill Fischer to begin with. All I did was build the bomb.

It was a shame I had to go inactive, especially given that within the first few days of the server, as NATO, I managed to become a translator for the Soviets and started doing other misc jobs, literally was left alone inside their HQ will communications with the head of KGB and 2nd in command of Soviets, managed to go through the desk of @Poopship McGee 's Lt, got what was in essence a full pass to Soviet base to come in and out, took pictures of the entire Soviet armoury, vehicle pool, and equipment.

Also got to be mates with a few Stasi officers and they gave me a get out of jail free card in a few instances etc

Such a shame it all had to be cut short, actually really was enjoying those times.

@afric handled the insurgents and intelligence
    @Angel handled the honeypot op
I handled the vehicles and occasionally shot people up, even had a stolen patrol car and used it.
@kifer patched everyone up and occasionally shot people up
    @Danny oversaw everyone

NJSOC was ran like a tight ship and it worked well, until inactivity claimed most of us and @Numbers killed half his own side to prove he was "really" on ours.

Server figured itself out and got interesting by the time engagement and the initial boom of players had dropped which was unfortunately too late to pull back.
