I enjoy writing about Gmod culture. A unique aspect to Gmod culture that might be fun to write about is this achievement (Yes, I am the real garry!)

I'm very interested to read if anyone got it.

honestly? it was just me fucking around late at night and i happened to stumble onto a random sandbox server with the man himself. There was probably like 4 ppl on the server not counting me and him

couldn't tell you much about it cuz it's been so long but he seemed to just be chillin with the other dudes on there and talking, I even spoke to him a little bit but idk what about

decent guy as i recall

Unfortunately for most people, they think they got it from the real garry but most don't realise it was someone impersonating him whilst using an account id exploit to spoof garry's account id which would trigger the achievement.

It popped for me on LP but I never actually got the achievement.

Frustrating tbh.

i used to play a lot of dark rp, and i only realised i had the achievement a few years on from that phase, so i’m pretty sure i was on the same server as garry at some point in 2016-2018?? yeah i literally never noticed until i checked my achievements out of boredom

Got this beaut whilst playing on a DarkRP server, pretty much when I first started to get into GMod. I can't remember the name of it, but it was like one of the highest play count ones at that moment. Saw the connection message, everyone got a pop up wishing everyone a happy new year, then mans immediately disconnected. Not a particularly fun story, but it makes my 100% completion brain happy (Just need to learn mapping to get the workshop item shits now :D)

I used an achievement unlocker when I was like 14 to get tf2 achievement items and I decided to get the garry one too

After doing some research, it seems that the majority of unlocks happened between 31.12.15 and 18.01.16. But these ones especially might not have been genuine.

"On December 31, 2015, there was an exploit that made it possible for people to appear as Garry and give everyone on the server the 'Yes, I am the real Garry!' achievement. This bug was fixed in the 2016.01.18 update."
