I think it's very likely that as soon as it's used, someone will appeal to the courts. the courts will hold it to be incompatible with the european convention of human rights/human rights act.

suppose it also depends how they use it too. either way I'm not too worried

I think you missed the Brexit because incase you didn't realise, by leaving Europe, we no longer have to follow their Human Rights convention. If you recall, Nigel Farage called for a 'Bill of British Rights" to replace them during his campaign.

we won't have to follow any eu law that would otherwise prevent us from making sketchy surveillance law, but unless Theresa repeals the human rights act then we're still bound to the European convention.

as confusing as it is, the euro convention on human rights is separate from the European Union. if I remember correctly I think it's actually managed by the council of Europe, which is a separate body.
