one of my best rp experiences was on a sci-fi rp server with intentionally vague lore where a spaceship crew did random stuff and explored planets
the people who wanted strict lore ruined it for everyone else though

i think settings like this work best when they are left vague and or the sci fi bit is the backdrop to everything else (like bepop), means you can have more variety in stories and shit and it'd probably work REALLY well for a rp server
