it wont be what you expect

lower the expectations or you will be dissappointed
The day they removed the RPG from their twitter description is when I stopped being super hyped with massive expectations

It doesn't need to be amazing or brilliant, it just needs to be decent

It's been in development a long time, the teaser was dope and the way CDProjektRed have talked about the game built a lot of hype

The pen and paper game is fucking dope, and cyberpunk is an incredibly popular genre for how underrated it is in media because it's hard to do it right and well.

People always go overboard with hype and what they think developers are capable of. But after Witcher 3 people praise CDProjektRed like they once praised bethesda or whoever else got loads of hype at e3 beforehand. But everyone saw them fall with F4 and F76, so anything could happen.

It's not worth telling people not to be hyped, let them get disappointed if it's bad. Everyone has the same information and we won't find out if it's good till it's out

cyberpunk is such a hyped game because its from a studio who's last game was such a massive hit in sales and metacritic

its not wonder that people expect the best from cd projekt because they'll most likely compare it with Witcher 3

feelin a bit sour after watching the gameplay last night, everything feels very weak and gamey, sure the art design and aesthetics are top notch but it looks like another action game wearing the clothes of an rpg to justify number chasing

the melee fight in the gameplay had an epic 'plot' and whacky characters but as soon as the punching started it was like the only response was a "thunk" noise and a damage value, looked like shit with 0 feedback

also some dude compared the level up system to skyrim(lol) where using stuff = more points in that stat and unless that's really fluid it sounds like a grind

starting to think it’s gonna be more GTA than RPG

as in, if you want to do all the shit that doesn’t involve the story, go for it

but if you want to play it like a normal game, nothing is stopping you

Confirmed Features (sorted by type):

Cars:

  • Hijacking cars that have a certain lock system means the chance of getting it unlocked is random.
  • Hijacking cars with people in it (and failing) will leave them looking at you, perhaps puzzled (random Civilians) or angry (if you're trying to rip off a Police/Corp vehicle)
  • With enough strength/cyberwear, you can literally just rip the door off even if someone's in the driving seat. No clue if it applies to armored vehicles.

Combat:
  • You can injure/dismember enemies and then leave them alive and (presumably) disarmed instead of killing them.
  • You can go the whole game without killing anyone, however you it's impossible to complete without being drawn into fights in certain sections.
  • Any weapon and cyberware can be color customizable.
  • There are children in the game. You cannot kill them. (yet, wait for the mods).
  • Trauma Team and police will tase/shock you if you do not comply with their orders.
  • Any enemy weapon can be picked up and used, although some have debuffs depending on circumstances (improper level, corp property, etc).

Augs:
  • You can add Cybernetic enhancements to your circulatory system
  • All the cyberware you have for your lifepath is stripped past the prologue, regardless of choice.
  • Fall damage is a thing, as are augments to reduce it.
  • You have 20 cyberwear slots, for what augments/how much each takes up, we don't know yet.

Quests:
  • One of the quests has 7 different outcomes, for example. Expect every mission to have many differing branching paths.
  • Due to the changing allegiances of characters; you should probably feel suspicious about every single character you meet.
  • Gun Shops can offer you missions.
  • There are roaming CyberPsycho NPCs rampaging as side-mini-bosses. For example, one is hunting police officers with a high-powered sniper rifle. Kill him, you get a bounty payment and the rifle.
  • Huge variety of weapons. Even similar weapons have entirely different stats and abilities.
  • Every skill in the game has between 20 and 30 perk options.
  • There are at least twenty perks by 20 perks x 12 skills, equaling 240 perks.
  • Attribute points can be gained occasionally when you level up, no word if it's the only way and the chance is random.
  • Perk skill levels cannot be higher than an attribute level for that function, if you have a Stealth skill of 6, your Stealth skill points cannot go above 6 until you increase the governing attribute's number to 7 or above.

Misc:
  • The game has a sort of "hidden" morality system , the game will secretly keep track of how many "good" and "bad" choices you have made.
  • Companions are really useful , and not only in fights.
  • Your UI is determined by what enhancements you have equipped and by your Life Path.
  • XBD's or illegal Braindances (snuff and exotic stuff) are found on the Black Market, or at certain Night Markets sold by seedy individuals.
  • There are animals - but very few of them. It is implied that most of them are artificial.
  • There are upwards of a dozen radio stations [12+]
  • You can hear live police reports through the radio
  • It was reiterated that all of the music on the radio is comprised of all original, new songs performed by famous artists and CD Projekt Red's own sound team
  • Vehicles have unique interiors.
  • Street Cred is not a morality system, it can only go up.
  • Certain items in stores and vendors can only be bought if you are well renowned in the City.
  • Yes, you can watch TV.
  • You can shoot while driving, whenever you like.
  • You can skip time whenever you wish (excluding missions?) with no loading time.
  • The number of nearby NPC's are connected to the area and time. That's why you see less traffic while in a car, but see plenty while on foot (during the day).
  • There are clothing stores.
  • Nudity can be toggled at the start of the game, possibly whenever you want on the fly.
  • Lifepaths impact both how the story begins (obviously) but also how NPC's will interact with you later on.
  • If you stare at someone for long periods of time like a 70's serial killer, they will respond. Probably not too kindly.

bit of a weird comparison, don't you think? GTA doesn't let you implant swords into your arms and wander around decapitating random goons.

deus ex is a better game to use, especially because it's an RPG (the first one, anyway) and features the whole cyber-future-augment-crazy idea.

the melee fight in the gameplay had an epic 'plot' and whacky characters but as soon as the punching started it was like the only response was a "thunk" noise and a damage value, looked like shit with 0 feedback
because the character portrayed was low-level, the anims/etc change when you level up the skill.

same goes for guns, etc.

not expecting anything extraordinary from the combat and gameplay elemets. Story, atmosphere, worldbuilding and content is what I'm playing this for.

man all the dialogue sounds dogshit, sounds like a city full of action figurines. Idk how the world is supposed to be believable and immersive if everything sounds like what the gameplay videos have shown
