Also lmao at people legitimately thinking Outlands would solve anything as a whole or spice up the server.
You'd see 99% of rebels move there and sit around trading without a care in the world, or at most making unique passive (which most didn't on LP so thats not really an argument for it). In fact I'm confident if the Union never set foot as a presence in the Outlands you'd have never seen a single complaint despite the fact all people did there on LP is what they do in the city now, minus shooting cops.
Which is why when people argue that the server needs Outlands to function or it would encourage more growth I get really confused because only a very few players bothered to take advantage of the new and interesting avenues of RP it encouraged. Most of the time it was a few days of quiet before a mass of internally-motivated PK's and people camping out in their stalls at the bunker.
I like Outlands, but it absolutely isn't the holy grail of ideas, nor is it remotely a necessity.
What HL2 really needs is people wanting to spice things up. There's a fuckload of stuff you can do via event chains and even on server but so few people bother to do them, or stick to them, or they get flat-out encouraged.
