Why didn't the "rebels" just withdraw themselves out of the dullest decade of roleplay in the history of rebel rp? Seriously each day following resistance and their vortigaunt allies from the fakelands as they fight assorted villains and npcs has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, rebel rps only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of an overall story arc or goal, all to make resistance unachieveable, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when
@Blackquill vetoed the idea of allowing a canal server and supported opening an event series server; he made sure the roleplay experience would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody? just ridiculously bland and non important rebel roleplay. The event server and expedition series might be action packed (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-wasteland series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the groups are good though
"No!"
The groups are dreadful; the roleplay was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the roleplayers wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase or /mes were repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous.Rebel roleplayers minds are so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that they have no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of rebel roleplay on Nebulous by the same players who enjoyed WW3RP. They wrote and echoed something to the effect of, "If these kids are enjoying rebel roleplay now, then when they get older they will go on to read enjoy World War Three RP." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you engage in rebel roleplay, you are, in fact, trained to roleplay in WW3RP.
