Pre-Ordered the Outer worlds.
Once it comes out and I start playing, I'll ditch this thread and make a true one.

He mentioned he was considering buying it earlier and I said if he didn't I'd buy him it! But I just found out he did buy it.

Just as a fun thing I had a look at the different reviews of the Fallout game and realised again how fucking retarded game critics are.
What you'll want to keep in mind here's the disconnect between critic reviews and user reviews, the people who are paid to rate games and the people who actually purchase them and fund future titles.

Never trust a cr*tic.

A strange part in this is that New Vegas was made under a contract with Bethesda, if they got an 85+ they were offered a bonus, they never got it. Except as far as consumers are concerned they should've.

I found my way back to an old Dunkey video that pretty much shit on the same thing in a different context.

Seriously, you guys are already probably way ahead but never trust an actual game reviewers word for a product. If you enjoy a type of game or a genre, and you want to see if likeminded people appreciate the product while holding the same mindset as you, look up user reviews. Steam is great for this, because the reviews are all user generated, that being said with stuff like Steam it's usually going to get universal praise from people who are zealous over the particular niche that a game fills, so if it's not your genre the reviews won't always tell you what you want to know as someone with a mild interest but a lacking attitude about the type of game (Hack and slash games, rpgs, whatever your type of game is.).

Individual reviewers with opinions that aren't fed through a company mindset where they're given exclusive coverage and want to keep on good terms with a company is always the right type of review to seek out imo, you know what you're going to get and it won't be a review set up to satisfy a company, but the word from someone with consistent opinions that's individual about their take, the lowest rating a critic that isn't paid off by a company is going to give is always going to be a 7.

End of the day your opinion about a game is the only opinion that matters, if you enjoy something that's widely considered to be bad, that's your opinion, and critics nor consumers should put you off from playing something you enjoy.

I don't know how much this actually has to do with Fallout, but given that New Vegas is one of my favorite games of all time and Fallout 4 and 3 are both on par or better according to game critics, I just wanted to throw my opinion into an already long dead race.

TL;DR:
Fuck game critics
Drop Rare from Microsoft
Make Banjo Threeie

I finished Dead Money yesterday, got the snowglobe and trapped Elijah. I'm after the other DLC now, and it's pretty cool meeting the Burning Man.

Really? Holy fuck, that brings a whole new level of satisfaction on trapping him instead of opting for the quick easy option.

Do what you want, but for the sake of story, if you're into side stuff and dialogue you should probably play the DLC in order.
1. Honest Hearts.
2. Old World Blues.
3. Dead Money
4. Lonesome Road

Never trust a cr*tic.
Do also keep in mind that review scores are one and done, and player scores are constantly able to change based on new events that occur.

I agree with this.

I used to really favour game reviews for whether or not I bought a game but as I grew up I've realised some of my most-loved games were critically panned but loved by players. Very rarely will critics for big magazines be honest, because their entire livelihood hinges on them keeping good with the companies who provide them this shit.

I don't blame them for it all the time cause yeah its a job but sometimes when companies pay off good reviews when the game is complete shit it causes so much chaos. Mafia 3 was a big one back in the mid 2000's.

am i the only one who just hates the brotherhood

like they're in almost every game but they're just shit tier
To be fair they are just regulating arms and being neutral unless it involves knowledge or powerful armaments. Why do you hate them?

The Brotherhood are a big market point for the games. I don't mind them in smaller positions or how they were in 3 but in 4 they felt shoehorned in and obviously despite being shit, 76 was "lets add all the stuff and break our own lore :)".

They're unique and cool in the context of the first two games because they more follow their role in New Vegas.

What happens in 76 with them? I don't get what you mean with "add all the stuff". Are they just there in massive size or something?

They exist full-stop which makes no sense for the region the game is based in and contradicts every other bit of lore for them and their founding.

Same with Super Mutants existing at all at this point in the timeline.
