So, Hanebado! just ended yesterday. I have had a lot of complaints of the show since episode 3. Primarily, the execution of conflicts presented was either at best - lackluster, or at worst - pointless.
There was also a problem with introducing characters as antagonistist, but with minimal setup for development or reason why we should like/dislike them.
The main problem is that its presentation and resolution of EVERY conflict (besides Nagisa's arc in the first 2 episodes) are terrible.
Yes, there are some very likable characters and the animation is AMAZING. Everything else, however, falls flat. I could say that "well, if it just had more episodes it could have done better". Sure. This is true, but it is a truism that fits 99% of all shows. More time = more content = typically better fleshed out show. It is a cop out excuse of why something was bad.
While I do not regret watching Hanebado! and I enjoyed it can I honestly tell others it has enough merit worth watching (especially over other sports anime?)
Not at all. It has so many flaws that any resembalence of qualities it does have is completely overshadowed or negliable.
4/10 for me.
