So, I decided to just model from a single primitive box and see where it went. It tends to be how I model things when I haven't got any ideas.
The outcome was a weird Furnace type model in the end, fully textured and rendered. See images below. Note that the images aren't high detail renders because it'd take me all night to do them and to be frank i can't be bothered with that. However the .gif is.

If I were to place this in Unreal Engine 4, I'd probably have it as a dynamic background prop, puffing plumes of smoke from the stylized funnel at the top there, glowing lights from the center slots to represent whatever is being smelted. The choice of texture was a base metal with a rust overlay as well as different scorch markings in subtle places.
