looks good my man but try to use other programs than 3ds max to texture, doesn't have many features other than unwrapping
also since i always thought unwrapping was confusing as fuck, see the seams as the place where you knit your model together, that sentence alone made me understand it

yeah i just unwrap then i take the textures into photoshop and do stuff there

it's what i'm using in school right now so it's what i'm doing

might try out some other things eventually though

Blender is really friendly to new users, you should try it out, i can link you some very informative tutorials on diffrent aspects and styles.
