I think you might be misremembering a little tbh. With the way suits stacked with stats and the extra pouches people bought for dirt cheap you could carry absolutely everything you needed even as a basic bitch.
I'm staring at my own fakelands inventory equipment page right now, rabid.
I think you're forgetting two facts here:

o storage items were slot based, unlike now where you can carry 4 traveling backpacks with no issue
o you obviously can't equip more stuff than your capacity (belts took up 5/10 slots, meaning you could only wear two)

this is why people went wild when @Jimbo defected from the CWU and gave a shitload of people belts, they weren't easy to get back then.

it would have worked by itself, but with uniforms giving you obscene storage bonuses things were absolutely scuffed (regular blacksuit gave you a 15kg increase, if I'm remembering right?) and that was the reason why no one ever took them off.

But I think the difference is that Helix was never designed to let you stack like that but people found a way over time.
Right out of the gate people prioritized traveling backpacks, they were semi-common by the time gangster warfare died out on d47.

Yeah this is true. When you combined weight-boosting items with the fact basic suits gave you a huge buff (I imagine that was a leftover from when guns were going to be significantly heavier) it really did break things.

I think the heaviest gun was the Spas-12 or AK? And even that only took up like 5-7kg. That was absolutely nothing when you had belts, pouches and backpacks lmao.

At the time of the WI raid on Jackie I was carrying:

* Spas-12
* AK
* USP-T
* Hundreds of combined rounds for all
* Two MP7's (idfk why)
* Food
* Water
* Medical items

And that only filled me up to about 75% capacity.

You're right, but again the original idea was that people would have to carefully pick and choose their weapons, ammo and whatever else they wanted to carry with the aim of limiting the extreme conflict CW had.

Obviously over time that changed and people wanted to load up in short order lol

If I had a quid for every person in this community who instantly denied they'd ever supported a suggestion when they were proven wrong down the line I'd be fucking rich lol

Give me some credit, I didn't spend two years fighting to stop RebelRP's economy being given the people known for making monopolies despite pushback for no reason.
if i was given a quid for every time rabid defended the status quo only to defend the new status quo when it changed i would be a gazillionaire

If only Nebulous.cloud didn't selectively work on groundhog day rules when it comes to any sort of suggestion-related discussion that isn't just blind support or "do it anyway", man, I could breathe more lol

random thing:

idc what people say on how atrociously gamey / cringe the massive queues / railway caravans were in old neb.

when i first joined that was the coolest shit imaginable server-wise, seeing a bunch of stuff, custom stuff, unique stories, wondering how they got it, seeing all those people in one spot, etc

Just make every 'resistance' uniform give you the same middling amount of carry if there's a serious consideration being given to the weight system. They're all basically identical models with different textures, blacksuits included, and having arbitrarily jacked stats on the blacksuit because they're blacksuits is dumb. Make it a trade-off for the increased armor. Give the larger carry buffs to things like hazmat suits. Less armor, more utility.

Shit, put an equip limit on bags while we're at it, if we end up staying with grid system. One person carrying three backpacks has always been immeasurably daft to me and I hate that it's become 'the meta'. Hell, the idea of a fucking roleplay server having a min-maxable 'meta' on its own grates me. Either way, as far as actually encouraging people to think about what they take with them/what makes sense for their character, it's considerably less stupid to have one person either toting a traveling backpack/backpack or a small bag and some pouches.

I like the idea of lower armour having trade-offs.

Maybe there's some outfits that give a little bit of armour, but gives a LOT of extra carrying buffs - Like, as a different 'incentive' to try certain other uniforms. (Heck, maybe one gives a TON of storage but NEGATES armour. Encourages escorting etc)

Amending this. Do this even if a serious switch to weight does happen. Rain holy fire down unto the hordes of avarice.

the only point i took from this is that it’s 2023 and @Rabid still takes time to mention Jackie (The Genius)
