So, I am going on the basis of just ideas and not actually serious about putting into a server. I was thinking of a setting that is a mix between the videogame Mirror's edge and a book called "Jennifer Government".
Basically, the world is run completely by Major Corporations. Surnames are that of the Corporation which area they are born under. Life is actually great. Mortality rates are extremely low, almost zero poverty, and technology is staggering. The only thing that checks the Business' is "The Government" who have field agents and HQ Agents to make sure that the Business' stay in a decent morality. Every faction has their secrets, though, and it is about political intrigue and social dances.

This decision was assisted by an unlikely entity - The Sol Corporation, the largest and most profitable company focusing on progressive economic technologies for impoverished countries. With the assistance of the new unification of world powers, Sol Corp. was able to distribute its technological advancements to all countries. One by one, though in quick succession each country started to become part of the benevolent conglomerate society.
There were many struggles with the unification of the planet including a collective span of wars. Though none recognizes the mass wars that were created from assimilation as the Third World War, many could argue due to the scale of fighting between countries it would be an apt title.

The year is 2120. The success of Sol Corporation had inspired many entrepreneurs to follow. Only three have managed to reach the prolific status that their cousin. Most, if not all products and services are due to their companies - keeping intense monopolies. The unification of the planet has been kept by an oligarchy counsel of leaders now known merely as - The Government. They oversee the world and keep a strict control over every company, military, laws, and social structure with an iron fist.

Sol Corporation has shifted its focus to construction engineering after finding a new technology of “biosteel” which allowed structures of immense size to be created and self-maintained. During this transition, several members of the business mutually agreed to split off - creating The Luna Corporation which kept its focus on environmental development.
Even though there are minorities that still harbor disdain for the change in society and culture, they quickly ran out of things to complain about after the complete assimilation and new conjoined policies were set in motion. The world has endured a lasting peace, equal social liberties in almost all parts of the world, a significant low mortality rates, advancements in technology of all kinds, and environmental sustainability.

//1:4:1 Populous Title and ID
Every person now born has a Populous Title and identification number. Delinquentes, terrorists, and criminals are stripped of their Populous Title and are addressed by their PIN (Populous Identification Number).
//1:4:2 Currency
There is now a universal form of currency that is digitized and periodically distributed for additional luxuries. Some may obtain more depending on factors like contributing a positive change that can be distributed across a significant portion of life (while hinderance of positive change can warrant the cessation to additional currency or expulsion from Modern Day Society.
//1:4:3 Employee Title
The need for The Government to keep firm maintenance of the monolithic entities placed a policy that required all employees to adopt the company’s title as their surname (with addition to their PIN). This does not affect the amounts of currency they gain, nor special privileges. In contrary, The Government has more information about these Citizens than the average.
//2: Factions
//2:1 The Government
This benevolent oligarchy controls most businesses, law, social, and military structure with a tight iron fist. They keep world order and function with little margin of error. They spread peace and stability through overt propaganda and moderate libertarianism.
//2:1:1 Headquarter Government
The first Division of Government is Headquarters. They deal with all of the administrative and paperwork of the Government. All police and military operations are controlled by HQ. Formor Sol Corporation CEO, Elon Sol has found a position as Chief of Operations in The Government.
//2:1:2 Field Government
The second division of Government is Field. All Field personnel are heavily armed and equipped for unsafe or potentially violent altercations. Any situation that needs physical presence whether police or military will have at least one Field at scene.
//2:2 The Three
//2:2:1 Sol Corporation
The former monopoly has declined in power and influence. It now focuses upon construction engineering. All structures built since 2050 have used the method and materials created by Sol Corporation. They continue to push for advancements in their adopted field and holds a firm grasp on several large monopolies.
//2:2:2 Luna Corporation
The sister company to Sol Corp. Luna Corp. returns to its routes of environment development technologies. Luna Corp. has announced recently that it will unveil a new a revolutionary terraformation technology.
//2:2:3 Southguard Technologies
Networth capita is more than equal to the sum profits of Sol and Luna Corp. together at least by 10%. SGT is the sole licensor of military and police technology and information.
//2:3 Klein University
The top educational franchise in the world. Klein University had taken academia by storm offering nearly everyone the ability to take educational courses and being funded by online crowdfunding. It still holds its third party funding roots, but The Government subsidizes the University.
//2:4 The Labor Party
An organization that have made revolutionary breakthroughs in information technologies for the everyday Populous. Members wish to have a reform of economical philosophy which mimics Modern American capitalism and laissez faire. Due to these beliefs, The Government does not take kindly to anyone of the Labor Party overstepping their boundaries. However, the growing popularity of this group has benefitted both The Government by hushing most denizens who have complained of the monolithic Three and the competition has given The Three some push to innovate more than ever before. For those reasons only does the Government allow them to exist in peace.
//2:5: The Pariah
Almost in a psuedo-agreement, the new government had decided to build OVER existing cities where people wishing to maintain the old ways of life and society - these people are far and few between. People who live in these conditions are considered barbaric and uncivilized and referred to as “Pariah”. Not much is known about the Undercity population due to The Government actively attempting to halt any contact from the Pariah to Vaue.
//2:6 The Garden (A.K.A: Couriers)
This small and well hidden cell have been labeled as terrorists. All that is known about this group is that they have an exclusive network of Crackers and a smaller unit of “Couriers” which deliver physical information one place to the other. Many attempts have been made to infiltrate their base of operations, but each operation has concluded no more information than previously. Several weak attempts have been made by The Garden to leak scandalous information on both The Government and The Five, each information not holding any merit for concern. It is unknown the intentions of this group, however they have caused both trouble for stability of

A psuedomilitary contractor that perform under-the-table operations that require deniable assets or low visibility professionalism. From seek-and-destroy to intelligence gathering the “Bloodpact” are not well known, tend to be considered a nutjob conspiracy theory.
//3: This City - Vaue
Pristine streets and infrastructures of white, red, and gold is a diversion from 1990’s “monochrome” future society. Though there is an absence of flying cars and labor robots to cater to human will the world is sight to behold with massive structures that kiss the sky and exhales aura of light as if they were stars themselves.
//3:1 Empyerial Apartments
Luxury does not exist in Empyerial Apartment’s vocabulary - Standard, is. One can only gasp at the seemingly high quality of living that are offered without hesitation. Between Klein Hospital and Market Hall you can expect healthy and safe living in respective locations.
//3:2 Ivory Towers
The unique architecture may attract the more artistic and adventurous types! Arches, turrets, and brickworks gives flair to your life. Behind these fortress walls one can feel - Like royalty.
//3:3 Chartreuse Livings
Overseeing the Central Plaza and Harbor Bay the conditions are not the quietest, nor necessarily the most peaceful, however the view and location are magnificent. Suites are equipped with the amenities that a Populous would expect of standard living those that face Harbor Bay come additionally with balconies.

Almost completely center of the entire city, The Plaza is where most of the Populous comes to gather. Market Hall, Harbor Bay, Klein Hospital, and all of the Living Zones are only a pace away.

The wails of gulls and scent of the ocean breeze intoxicates the area. Serene laps of waves and a perfect view of the Sunset along the crystalline shards of sand which extends outwards on either side of the docks.

A strip of shops and open markets to obtain goods and products of all kinds. Street performances full of all different talent can often be seen around here.

Where young and old minds alike congregate to experience higher education whether in trade skills such as mechanics to academia like medicine. Klein University is the city’s flagschool where many use as a stepping stone to enter into an Employee for one of The Three. On Klein University’s perimeter is Klein Hospital.

The entire area is guarded by a snaking posliside of cement. Behind is a lining of chicken-fence barbed with razorwire. The facility is a menacing structure of spark, machine, and vehicles. Seldom can a large ringing be heard outside of Southguard Foundations of test shots. The entire facility is kept watch by Field Governments to prevent any products entering or leaving without clearance.

A large establishment that with glistening windows that blends in with all the skyscrapers around it. What defines Sol Foundations is not the mimicking exterior, but under the corporate structure is an area devoted for their research - a underground Area 51.

Taking the old Modern Corporate vibe, Luna Foundations takes the visage of its sister’s appearance. A massive skyscraper which towers the city. Inside are labyrinths of cubicles. At all points of every moment, lights can be seen emitting from the outside, glowing the streets and other walls, a corporation that never sleeps.

Where the central information and operations of The Government are created and initiated. A unique geometric structure that is a half of an isolated chamfered dodecahedron. Though very little amount of Populous is aware the structure is a complete dodecahedron, suspended by a unique foundations that Sol Corp. has not utilized for any other structure yet. The top half is only visible to outsiders. Each face of the building leads to different undergound ways to parts of the city.

The stability of the world is reaching its apex. Five years from now marks a century since the beginning of assimilation of the world. The Government is preparing an international event with guest speakers and a large party hosted in Vaue.

Nah, it was a rough draft of a setting I was going to use for my TTRPG group, but decided to not do it because they didn't like the shadowrun system and I didn't want to run it in WoD because we had like... 2 WoD games running at the time.

For real, my ideal sever would be something based in history - like a Nazi Occupation RP, but done properly. Or something like 'The Man in the High Castle.' Although, that kind of experience is sort of emulated in what is offered to the player in HL2RP.
Or any sort of historical setting for RP; hence why @Dazza and I along with the senior staff back at LP decided on a lore change to a (alternative) historical setting for WW3RP.

A roleplay taking place in the Dead Space universe? There's plenty of events you could focus on, like the resource wars taking place between S.C.A.F. and EarthGov's armies, or the various Necromorph outbreaks in outer space or on colonies. In the latter case, there would probably be massive amounts of fear Roleplay involved, because you're being chased by creatures with shit protruding from their backs. It'd provide massive amounts of events filled to the brim with action though, and a lot of bossfights that could result in PKs.
Or maybe some sort of Mafia RP with different Cartels and Mobs struggling for power in a single city? There'd probably be a lot of fighting, but seeing the criminal underworld in that time could prove to be an interesting concept.
Finally, what about some sort of Hotline Miami roleplay? With the USA losing the war against Russia and citizens hating russian immigrants, fifty blessings running amok through the cities shooting up russian mafia members, the russian mafia and colombian mafia fighting, and the police thrust in the middle of it all it could be a really interesting RP as well, but it'd need to be roleplayed correctly.
