No it was caused by bubbles in the industrial market. Like all crashes are. The Fed reserver can't and won't make bubbles. It can make them pop through a myriad of reasons but it can't create them. Not to mention the predatory business strategies and tactics played on the stock market.

edited it to add a bit more. And you can't have socialism and commodity production and privately owned means of production. The USSR is a good example of centralised planned economies but not of socialism as a whole. At best it was social democracy with state capitalism in terms of actual socialist progression.

i could talk about how great (x boom period in capitalism) is and neither of us would be saying anything because what matters is what's supposedly good or bad about these systems and saying WOAH THE THING WENT UP WHEN (x economic policy) WAS IN PLACE doesn't consider all of the other factors that could have contributed to the thing going up

all you're doing is trying to catch people out by talking about stuff people might not have historical knowledge of and it's really fucking annoying to be honest

okay then let's play it your way. Let's look at the facts. In 1958 the USSR attempted to privatise several institutions in it's industry which had a profound negative impact on it's economy in those sectors.

This comes from a misconception about the gotha critique. Socialism and communism in Marxist terms are the same thing, the misconception is that lower and higher stage communism are two seperate things and are this run differently however this isn't true. It's what's used by tankies and ML's to say that the USSR was socialist.
