I recently acquired a Canon EOS 1500D DSLR camera, in the hopes of taking up photography initially as a hobby and possibly one day as a career.

These particular photos have had no post-processing done and are just the camera alone; they're also my first proper photos I've ever taken.

Yes, I know, the canon lens cap picture is a little grainy - after some research I've realised my ISO must have been too high.

i live very near a river that's just RIPE with photo opportunities

there's some banks on the river that are covered in an assortment of little rocks and stuff, and there's just a bunch of other shit that'd make amazing centerpieces in photos

it'll be nice capturing it too because i used to go down to that river when i was little

anyone know of any good portfolio websites?

looking for a good, reliable one where i can make a nice looking page out of these pics; especially because i have stuff like the sunflower project, which is a day-by-day thing until they're fully grown

Decided my Grandpa's old Coastguard hat deserved some attention.

God rest his soul. I never got to meet him, but he served 17 volunteer years as a member of the Coastguard and lost part of his leg doing it; that alone is an ode to the man he was. I wish I'd have met him.

The chair beneath the hat - I BELIEVE - was built by my Great Grandfather, too. Turns out the chair wasn't made by my Great Grandpa; Grandma got given it as a wedding gift from a Deacon when she got married back in the early 60s, but it was already 40-50 years old at the time so it's well over 100.

the reason im taking so many pictures of these sunflowers by the way is because its meant to be a little project of mine; these are my mum's flowers and the idea is to take a picture of them every day until they're fully grown

because its progressive

not only do you see the growth of the plant but you see the fact that i'm visibly getting better each time i take a shot because im practicing and researching inbetween all of it
