if im very good 👍 at rimworld will i struggle at all with this
Yes, but not as much as someone brand new. Rimworld was certainly inspired by dwarf fortress, so some concepts can be easy to grasp. But if you give it a few hours basic concepts should come clear

rimworld but everyone is drunk and has the depth of an ocean instead of a puddle and there's no tech tree + everything is a little less polished but it makes you want to get past the unpolished bits because it's so rewarding

one order to forge boots/gauntlets makes a set, so no :)
I appreciate you beyond words
I'm back again to plea for help because the squad armour menu is the most tedious thing in the world.

so, my issue. I've been trying to get my soldier dwarves kitted, and for some reason they keep having issues wearing the armour I tell them to wear, processing it as just not existing apparently. I figured it was due to the fact they were in stockpile boxes, so I removed them from there and then left them just on the floor in a stockpile. That didn't help either, so I removed the stockpile so there was nowhere for the items to go and that helped but didn't solve my issue entirely. I then did some wiki diving and found out that if you set your dwarves armour to "worn over clothes" then sometimes other shit might get in the way if the slot is taken by their clothes, so I've set it to replace instead, but now I'm conscious that the only thing my dwarves will be wearing is armour and *nothing else* so I started trying to look into clothing and what takes up what slot and so on, but it hasn't been very helpful, so all I want to know is: WHAT THE HELL DO I SET MY PEOPLE TO WEAR

Armor.png

THIS is my current usual loadout, with the melee weapon swapped for the type and the shield not used for the crossbow dwarves. Metal efficiency and all that shit aside, is this fine for a dwarf to wear, should I include other clothing if it's going to completely replace their clothing? Like should I give them socks for their boots, or...?
Can you help me with this too?

this is a fine loadout for a millitary dorf :) i had the problem of them refusing to wear armour over clothes too so since then i've just gone ahead with the replace clothing option, only issue is that they'll be kinda slow at the start, but as their armour wearing proficiency increases they'll get quicker so it's no big deal if they're set to train all the time!!!

also dorfs can wear two mail shirts at once, so you can add an extra one of those if you like and have the resources

Started playing a few weeks ago again, I still love it and especially the story it can tell. I'm sure adventure mode will be great when it comes out, although if you want to test yourself it is already out in the original version, just instal a tileset and watch a tutorial
