A good snip from the link for people who dont fancy opening it.
Lawmakers in the U.S. Senate just voted to overturn a set of privacy rules that were written in 2016 to prevent Internet service providers from sharing (selling, really) your Internet usage information, including your browsing history.

Next thing you know the government will get you private info from somewhere,

And then they will take it and sell it to a 3rd-party company,

And in turn, give the money to the government,

So then they can put more money into the federal defense budget

It's all a big scheme! Private Info -> Defense of the Nation

But in all reality, this is a really stupid move.

Most internet traffic goes through the US. The US is effectively the central hub for the internet. Which means a shit load of data, even international data will be passing through US servers and US ISP infrastructure.

Not to mention there's the whole "US tech corporations (like google) operating overseas" thing which means anything goes through them gets fed back to their servers back at home as well. Your go to porn sites? Probably on a US server or get fed back to a US server.

Basically, the implications here do not stop at the US borders. It's global. After the Snowden leaks, it's not really much of a secret your data is already being dragnetted and harvested anyway by the US Government already. American ISPs can easily dragnet that same data by the sheer fact most traffic is routed through the US in some way or another.

only problem being that almost every website is .com and not .co.uk/.jp/.ru essentially meaning that when ur data runs thru that domain you're getting violently assraped for intel

I am sure you have private stuff on your PC.
This includes all of your passwords, steam conversations etc.
If your history will be up for sale, a company can sue you easily for piracy, and trust me they will do it, piracy hits the company, and they don't like it.

And Blackmail as well. Just for those extra bucks before selling whatever you have off.
